It's like Shanling is now run by 30 marketing gurus with the basic idea of creating new segments of product with higher price but no added value while there are 5 devs.

Worse they leave products behind with already flawed software and basic features seems to take years.

As long as we don't send a clear message they are all in for "burned grass".
Previous fans are leaving, fearing being bitten again with unstable, unmaintained products while resources are full steam on new shiny hardware.

Just look at the interest of the community for the new products compared to others brands in the game...

No offense to the community manager of Shanling but the company does not seems to compete anymore on the field at least from my point of view.

Looks great, but for me the EM7 will live or die based off its software. I already have issues with the EM5 software features/stability that I detailed in a previous post, and if the EM7 is more of the same, but with better hardware, it's a hard pass for me. Maybe if I didn't already own the EM5 and the price difference ends up being reasonable.

I really like the tiltable screen, but that's not enough of an upgrade over the EM5 to justify selling it and upgrading to the new model.
More power? EM5 has 1.6W per channel at 32Ohms. That's enough to drive anything I have that I can throw at it.
Faster CPU? It's not like the EM5 is having trouble playing music.

If it has something like Roon support and/or Tidal Connect, I'll think about it.

They should just drop that android software stuff and use something else like volumio. Or at least add roon.
With that display it's such a good opportunity.

Nobody needs a OS where you just mirror share the screen with Ur phone.

This is available on EM5 since firmware V1.25, it's on top of the list in "Display Off" setting.

My slightly cynical take... I have a feeling that Shanling ran out of the AKM chips used in the EM5, so they had to make a choice between making an EM5 ESS edition or making improvements to the EM5, use the ESS chip and market it as an EM7.

We have enough AKM chips for EM5, it's still in full production.

I think EA5 would be bit limiting for these speakers. But of course people differ in their opinions what amount of power is needed.

But if you wait a bit, we might have something bit more powerful, that would make for a better pairing to your speakers

This is exciting! I’ve been waiting for the EA5 for a while but may have to wait a bit longer if this includes the tilt display as well.

You just described the reality in 99.9% of all so-called "tech companies," except that I would say you were overly optimistic about the ratio. My observation is that it's probably worse than 100:1
