Anyone compared M9 with DX320? Some say the treble is more rolled off with the DX320. I don't think I'm going to change DAP for a long time. Just itching to try something new.

I covered it in my review. When you are reading other comparison comments please be aware of what iem or headphones they are using. The sound description is relative to iems/headphones and their pair up synergy with a source that going to change.

Sure M9 (as every dap) match very well with some IEMs as Dark Sky or QDC Tiger

Hopefully the shanling will have roon at some point.
I’ve got an m9 arriving in a few days and can’t wait. I used to own the m8 and loved it with ve elysium. What iems have synergy with the m9?

I had the dx320 in June (burned in 300hrs) and sold it within 4 weeks. While it is a good DAP, its sound did not really impress me much when comparing with M17. DX320 soundstage lacked depth (to my ears and with my iems/headphones).Everything was in your face and upfront. It also somehow lacked musicality.

I’m having the M9 for the past week and I find its presentation more refined and with way better musicality and soundstage than dx320 (going from memory since I sold dx320 some time ago). The rest (screen, OS speed, dimensions) are more or less comparable. M9 build quality is better, beside the volume wheel as I preferred the dx320 volume wheel.

I like M9 *almost* as much as M17, just different presentations. I cannot say I liked Dx320 even remotely close to M17.

Personally I would never switch M9 for DX320. But different folks different ears ;)

M9 is a DAP that goes towards musicality more than neutral presentation but I found it pretty universal with pairing (if you like that kind of presentation). Using now daily with my latest toy TZ700 and it pushes that dd incredibly well. Excellent layering and holographic presentation.

On another note, I removed the factory applied screen protector (there were bubbles when applied at factory) and I didn’t manage to apply the other 2 screen protectors (not best quality screen protectors, almost impossible to apply in a decent way).

Did anybody find a (more or less) compatible screen protector for M9? I tested the iPhone ones but they don’t cover the whole visible screen (corners and sides for a couple of mm). Other screen protectors for 6inch screens devices are either too long or too large.

I’ve found to sound amazing with the ie900. I’ll try some other dd iems too. I was going to ask if a screen protector is pre applied as mine is flawless if so.
I agree with you too, it’s more musical than pure reference but I prefer it. Makes listening more fun 😀

I’m surprised this dap hadn’t had more hype. One of the best I’ve heard anyhow
