Shanling M9 Announced - Flagship High-End Portable Player

I was wondering if the little display located in the notch of the main display can display other information then the bitrate?
It would be nice to have the track name displaying (scrolling), so we don't need to turn the main display on to check the track name (I do it quite often with my Sony DAP and it's the main battery drain reason)

Not so far. For now it's really just fixed for the few pre-set functions.

Did I read correctly that MQA is supported in DAC mode?
Anyone lately tried to hook M9 to some IPad and stream over Roon?
Will filters / PEQ and full MQA unfolding still work then?
I assume the failing Roon tests posted beginning of this year in this thread are related to Roon app installed locally on M9 and not hooked to a Roon endpoint like Iphone/iPad?
Anyway I will test it soon myself though it's not my primary use case.

BTW my M9 will arrive by tomorrow...

Just heads up as I couldn't see it clearly confirmed in this thread.

M9 is not only fully unfolding MQA in DAC mode, it's also playing Roon over my IPhone!
Well done @Shanling

Just sold my Hiby RS-6 and picked up an M9 on the secondary market…
Just waiting for it to arrive on Monday or Tuesday.
Very excited.
I want to see how it compares with my Ibasso 300 Max and A&K CA1000.

Got it!
No tidal issues- great news.
Sounds great. Not sure if it surpasses my 300 Max though- but way lighter.
From memory sounds a fair bit like my Fiio M15- bit with better instrument placement.
Beautiful screen!

…more to come…

@Shanling There is a new software, Roon ARC, released by Roon which allows your Roon music library to be played remotely. No more need for the DAP, for example, to be certified as Roon endpoint. I have installed it on the M9. Was done nicely. Even linked to my Roon Core and set itself up. However, when it is time for playing, it just spins and spins and nothing happens. And then there is an error message that says “playback: internal error”.

Note that the Sony 1AM2/1ZM2 and iBasso DX312 have no issues lIke this and work seamlessly with Roon ARC. :)

Yes, just saw the Roon 2.0 announcement, trying to get it working on our network to test it out. Will keep you updated.

Am personally disappointed of Roon Arc.
No Hires support, only up to Redbook sample rate.
Maybe it's due to the fact that you have a full circle of streaming (music provider in internet - Roon Core at home - Roon Arc in internet (4G or whatever you have), so maybe they want to limit the data on purpose to avoid bandwidth issues.

Interesting. Cos I have high res running on mine. But what you have to do is to turn off “ automatically pick best quality” and you set what you wish the sample rate to be. There is even a tab for how you deal with DSD.

Thx, will try that once I am back at home.
So you have seen higher sample rates once auto was deactivated?
Have you tried MQA too?
