@Shanling - Having ceased production of the M8, I wonder if you could give us some insight into firmware and software plans? It sounds like we should not expect gapless playback, but what about known flaws like the inability to correctly sort alphabetically? With a TB of stored music, this remains a pain in the neck...

I know it sounds crazy but actually I am enjoying this combo more out of the non-true M8-LO than out of M30's true LO XLR-OUTPUTS.

M8-> Ferrum OOR powered by Ferrum HYPSOS -> Hifiman Susvara

M8s smooth musical tonality with the right mid bass thump and body which Susvara needs with good stage and forgiving upper mids.

Struggling to get this great synergy with M30's XLR out in all honesty currently.
M30 tube mode is getting closer to the M8 presentation but lacking the resolution and spice of M8.
The pass through mode and Transistor mode are often too harsh and unforgiving and missing the above described smoothing M8 presentation.

And after I was about to sell M8 I am now thinking twice about it...

@aaf evo this experience is giving me some thoughts about TOTL DAPs being no 2nd choices vs desktop DACs for such pairings necessarily. I assume your DX300 Max would also sound great plus having a true LO...

I think at the end of the day, it also has much to do with synergy as well. There are different parts and who knows what the sum of the parts will end up being? That is the challenge and the joy of our little hobby.

Fair enough. I could find no shops in Switzerland carrying the M8 when I purchased it. It seems like your network here has grown since then. i see our local head-fi specialist, K55 in Zurich, is now carrying much of your line

Great news. The Shanling music app, eapecially its library functionality, is a bit of an Achilles heel...

Need help please!!! Just got a used M8 today after being stuck in Customs for 19 days and there is no manual. Have downloaded 1 but it does not show how to set the operating system to English only. Also, how does one download google? TY

If you do a factory reset you can set the language on bootup... turn off player. Then hold volume button and the top button on left side down for 15 seconds or so till the boot screen comes up...use volume wheel to scroll down to 'factory reset' then press vol button to choose it. Select english on boot screen when it boots up

Oh, then activate wifi, then googleplay store should be on the desktop, make sure you are in android mode and not prime mode.

Turn off? Pause music, and you can swipe away the the player in the pull down menu, but it's not necessary to force stop the app. Android was made to hold apps in the background to actually not use additional resources to restart them

Concerning the Shanling player, I see where in album view you can click the heart to "like" the album, but where can you later access these albums? @Shanling
