Btw, seriously rubbish implementation Shanling.
With the horrendous slow ass server from Shanling, every time the screen turns turns off while "downloading" the firmware due to "inactivity", the firmware download stops. You have to keep waking the M8 up and re-tap to continue downloading.
Doesn't Shanling know how to allow firmware to continue downloading in the background? Btw after 30 mins i'm only at 5%

Mine is downloading firmware in the background. Slow but working. Server #2.

You had issues, I didn't. I am sure the servers are being hammered. I have an idea if you are unhappy with the OTA version, local update...geesh

Uhh, yes i'm sure everyone knows about local update. But 1 of the main reason we choose a DAP with wifi feature besides streaming is OTA update without needing manual plug & update.

Haven't tried that since i'm not near a power plug and don't have a power bank with me atm.

As in when your screen is turned off it still downloads in the background? Is there any settings to play around for it to do that?
I changed to server #2 as well now, much faster but still slow. 1 hour now at 49%. At least it's moving now.

LOL!!! As long as you don’t Tap Out of the downloaded, the download will not stop. However, it will stop if you tap out to browse music or play music

I did not touch anything at all. I just left it downloading, after 1 min the screen sleeps. On the 2nd min when i wake it up, i'm booted out of the download and have to re-tap to continue downloading...

That is strange ? Restart the player and try it again ? I know it is bothersome for sure and I agree. Shanling excels at tuning the hardware and engineering it but .... a little slacking at software and firmware lol

lol i won't lose my download progress if i restart will i? I'm at 55% after 1 hour, i really don't want to start from 0% again after a restart
