I haven't tried it but basically you stream from another device like a computer to your DAP, selecting the computer as source and M8 as the audio device to stream to... don't really see a use case for it except if you want to say use your M8 as audio for your smart TV, Apple TV or Android TV box...

Why R6 2020, well as a reviewer I need a mid tier DAP the fact it's rather neutral doesn't hurt. Doesn't always make sense to review mid tier IEMs and headphones with top tier DAPs or my entry level DX160 (although it punches above its price point). Also, kind of wanted to have DAPs with different DAC chips : ESS (R6 2020), Cirrus logic (DX300) and AKM (M8). Luxury especially since I pay for my DAPs but still makes sense for me.

And couldn't justify keeping 3 flaship DAPs really

Hmm i see that you have Elysium, how was R8 + Elysium pairing? How about M8 + Elysium? Is it a major difference? Also, how's the elysium.. lol. Considering picking it up.

I received the Elysium after selling the R8 so I don't know... M8 and Elysium well @Rockwell75 and I have published several post on the pairing, it's superb and my favorite DAP for the Elysium although the DX300 pairing is also quite interesting in a more relaxed kind of way.

+1 can confirm. M8 + Elysium pairing is divine and easily the most satisfied I've been with any audio gear/synergy I've yet owned. You'll likely hear people raise concerns about Elysium's bass. To my ears the M8 magic on the lows more-or-less completely mitigates any lingering reservations I may have had about the bass on Elysium.

When turned on, M8 will act as a Bluetooth receiver/headphones. So you can pair it with your phone/tablet/computer and stream music directly into it.

This is so strange to say but at same time kinda sad for dx300. After I spent 8 days with dx300 then came back to M8 for 4 days now and just today switched back to dx300 to try it... And damn poor thing I like the dx300 looks ots so cute and pretty but so sad for him O cant stand it, the sound is so inferior to M8 is just crazy!

There is just something that lowers the dx300 performance 2 tiers down. M8 sounds much more audiophile and mature... Very strong dacs on M8 it really sounds like a real ToTl dap to my ears.

Well.... I was loading my firmware update image with microSD. Sadly my the card lid/cover broke at the base of the lid, leaving a small piece and rattle inside the M8... I guess I got it in an awkward angle or something. Has this happened to anyone?

@Shanling Is there an easy way to get the piece out and replace? It seems like a small (but annoying) trouble to send in for a repair...

Unfortunately no easy way how to get the leftover piece out. You would need to open the device.

Hello M8s !
Just got my M8 as well.
Auditioned DX300 and New Hiby R6 but went for the M8 albeit the most .
The sound quality of the M8 blows me away for my music genre ie. 90's rock, Classic Rock , Metal mainly due to the slam and yet spaciousness that separates the instrument giving a wide and holographic experience.

DX300 was also spacious with high resolution bringing out detail, but I felt the vocals were further back compared to the M8. Deciding factore was the low-end slam was not as hard hitting than the M8.

New Hiby R6 was a side grade to me coming from the Hiby R6 Pro.
Still good nonetheless and half the price with loads of features but to me, doesn't improve much from what I currently have in terms of sound quality from the R6 Pro.

Time to burn in the M8.
