It is between the Sony NW-WM1Z and the Shanling M8. Battery life is definitely an important factor.
If the battery life is an important factor for you than wm1z.
I did similar tests on hiby R8 and it lasts around 12 hours to 14 hours. Turbo mode really drains couple of hours more.

I personally not really peaky on the hours that it lasts. 8 hours is plenty good. With quick charge it goes up quickly
Quick charge is not good for battery. Quickly shortens battery life.

Somewhat true, though it's ok if you don't let battery drop below 20% and charge it up when it gets to 80%. Modern QC 3/4 is perfectly fine if used properly.

It is super duper easy to swap out battery in the M8 . I appreciate quick charge everywhere I go.

I remember the saying “rather be fast and effective than prolonging the suffering” LOL

On top of that, if you buy from musicteck, you can have them swap out batteries pretty quick and easy too

It sounds nice, and with AKM factory to be 6 months or so in delay, I think we won’t get new AK4499EQ dap for a while
Yes, I have seen a lot of manufacturers make last minute changes to upcoming DAPs (etc) because of it. Really difficult situation. I guess the M30 might be affected as well.

Hello,

If I understand correctly this M8 has no line out? Because I want to connect it directly to my tube amplifier.

regards,
Simon
It does have line out from the menu, and it can be used on any socket styles, single ended or balanced

Ibasso has it own house sound, which is very neutral and “references”. Ibasso is mostly about soundstage, airiness, natural kinds. I am not sure about Dx300, but by far from what I have known with Ibasso, they stay close to the house sound mentioned above. You will find that even with Max.

M8 is a safe bet for you, at least from what little I know about your preferences judging by posts.

Dx300 is a yet released device. If you are interested, then we have to wait for a few months until release and comparison, heck, at this point, we don’t know the DAC being used LOL!!

The M8 has more inner resolutions, similar characteristics to WM Walkman, more powerful, with Android, and also better Sub bass, more sparkles up too, and more meaty in high spectrums . The M8 also is able to render unique instruments timbres density ways better than WM Walkman across the board, the WM Walkman fell off from upper mid toward high spectrum in inner resolution of the tonal balances uniqueness
Well said.
