You do know that there is a Shanling guy posting on this thread and other Shanling threads. In the Shanling poster's info is an email address so you can contact Shanling. I would send an email here and at another thread, asking for help. I would also contact by email the vendor where you bought the DAP. Don't forget to include the info that you are an active participant on the HeadFi forum.

Is the previous FW available somewhere? Tidal keeps stuttering after a few songs and then crashes without exception. I've tried everything, nothing had worked.

What's up with .cue support in the standard music app?
I am listening from my NAS and mostly relying on By Folder view - I can't see any cue files when browsing..

Hi .

I have bad news ! I tried to install viper4android and Dolby atmos but they don't work . They are some glitches . The bit perfect from the system doesn't let equalizer work and sounds with distortion , besides that the processor is to weak for so many applications to work in the background .
The hardware is very bad and very unstable.

I tried and gave my best but is not in my hand .
This dap can't even work with uapp and tidal properly but I tried.

Shanling m8 sounds amazing without any need of EQ but me personally I want to have All with a perfect ui and hardware for the price. I'll move to another dap like hiby which has it all .

I like the idea of of system-wide EQ and I also wish the M8 had newer hardware and software... but I went into buying it knowing it didn't have these things. I bought it blind because of so many of the positive impressions online concerning it's sound quality; for me, that was the deciding factor.

Still would like to hear impressions of M8 vs Hiby R8 just for kicks if anyone has them.

Oh, and I have no problem with Tidal or UAPP on my M8, except when searching on UAPP, the virtual keyboard gets in the way of the search results when I enter a search unless I click the 'back' button... Not too much of a problem for me.

I don't know about others but since the latest update my M8 has been behaving much worse than before. The Tidal app crashes a lot now. I thought it was the SD cards but after removing them and doing factory reset 2 times , deleting the offline content and redownloading everything on the internal storage ,the problem persists.
Maybe I was just very unlucky but the M8 has been a headache to deal with from day one.

Please which version of Tidal app you are running? We are not seeing such issue on our units.

Sorry what do you mean which version? How many versions are there? If you mean plan, it's Hifi plus latest update.

Yes you're right , M8 has this special sound which I like so much !

Hiby for some sounds even better and is simply better overall as a dap .

I don't want to effect someones opinion but this is me , im honest at least

I have the latest version of tidal with a subscription hifi plus and yes it lags a lot , unfortunately with uapp and tidal lags even more.

Now I discovered something new of course I'll sell it and I will buy no hiby , no ibasso , no fiio but the shanling M9 with akm dacs ,a way powerful processor and android 10 ofcourse ! I'm in love now with this new m9

it is like with the fiio m15 and m17.

yes, m9 will be great, but yes you pay like 50% more. so it is another level of experience and devices to compete with.

but i will buy it for sure - and sell my like new m8.
