Are you using stock cables ?
When i swipe down from the top i do not see a USB option???
Tap "Storage" icon. That flips to USB DAC mode.

Ok - The cable that came with the DAP is faulty.
I tried my own USB C cable and it works now.

Yes the stock cable is faulty
As soon as I changed to my own cable it started working.

Wow that is crazy LOL!!!! Yeah, most of the time it is the cables, but never thought stock cables would actually be that way. I am glad you have a working cable now
Per Shanling specs (near the bottom of https://en.shanling.com/product/390), SE is <1ohm, Balanced is <2ohm.
From my personal experience with Andro v2, I can comfortably listen to M8 balanced. With N6ii/A01 balanced was unusable for me, I had to go SE. I think DX228EX had a higher noise floor than M8 but I'll have to double check. I can't say what might happen with 7ohm golds.

Yup their only downside is that sometimes they get warped but my solution to this will be to have about 3-4 sets on hand and rotate through them about a week at a time giving each pair a chance to "rest". It sounds weird but it works. They also win because the material they are made with is probably the most comfortable of all the (considerable number of) tips that I've tried.

Lol, the man is serious about his gear!
I got a pretty decent deal on a used one. But yeah it was more than I ever thought I'd spend on a cable. It's made me a believer though.
