A question for @Shanling. How close is the M6 Ultra to the sound quality from the sweet warm and musical sound of the M8 away?? Resolution? I'm considering a used M8 or the M6 Ultra. What would you recommend?? A real honest opinion please.

Soundwise, M8 is still clear level above M6 Ultra.

Of course the system part also plays a big role, so it depends if you are fine just running files from your card or if you plan to be jumping between 4 different streaming services.

You can either try to change the security protocol on your Wi-Fi, or wait until we get some firmware fixing this. So far there is no other quick fix.



M7 is not limited run.

Difference between them is primarily in the sound, on most other aspects they are comparable or the difference is not that significant.

So if you want warmer and smoother sound with AKM on M6U or more neutral, detailed M7.

I personally prefer M7, but that's up to individual gear and preferences.



Honestly, sounds bit more like you just don't like the AKM sound. Are you using it with the stock Shanling Music player?

Of course you can contact your seller and get the M6U compared to another unit if possible, to be 100% sure it's not some hardware problem on your unit.

I found out why the sound is so bad on my M6u it's the 4.4 balanced out is defective!!! The bass started to cut in and out so I changed cables and tried 3.5 and it sounds fantastic and is stable. I will contact the seller tomorrow. Need to know how to wipe my personal info from player???

I really want this, but I'd prefer to hear from people who can compare and contrast it against the M6 Pro AKM. This would be my most expensive dap purchase, and I want to make sure that it is an improvement over what I currently have. If they sound quite similar, no need to spend the additional 300 bucks.

I asked similar question earlier in this thread. Shanling said that it's definitely an upgrade when it comes to OS and performance but sound wise it's mostly side grade than upgrade.
If you have a chance demo the Ultra that is the best way to find out which one you will prefer.

Same situation as on our other players, alternative launchers not supported by our software team.
