Hi @Shanling

I just tried to install the USB driver to use the M6Pro as a USB DAC. Used the driver package from: http://en.shanling.com/download/69

When I unzip it and try to run setup.exe I get a message saying "NSIS error: Error launching installer"? I'm on a PC with Windows 10.

In theory our players are able to work with maximum of current standards, so up to 2TB.

What does custom android global lossless output mean? Does the standard M6 offer this as well?

AGLO, our custom build of Android that allows for signal to be processed correctly, without Android sample rate conversion.
M6 also has this, we just didn't have name for it when we launched M6.

Can You confirm that statement? Is Play Store preinstalled?

Not pre-installed, but customers will be able to add it themselves if they wish.

What's about playstore at the M6 pro?
Is it comming in chinese and global version like the normal M6?

For M6 Pro, we have one version for all markets.

There will be patch released soon, that will enable it.

May we get some reviews of the M6 PRO? @someyoungguy :beerchug:
In all honesty I returned it. I had it for a few days and clocked up a bit of burn in and listening time, but realized the sound just wasn’t for me. We all hear different so for others it may hit all the right notes. Build quality was great and as you can see from the Shanling threads here on head-fi the customer service is outstanding.

I’d never owned a Shanling DAP before and had heard their house sound described with words like “dry” and “chasing”. But it’s so hard to get a handle on how that sounds with such ambiguous terms (a problem with a lot of reviews I find), so wasn’t sure what to expect, but think I now have some idea.

It has great detail, layering and soundstage. Up there with my previous DX200 with amp8 if that means anything, which I think is to be expected given the trends of improving sound quality over the last few years. The treble was a bit too bright for my tastes, although it improved after the first few days, but retained a kind of “dry”, detailed approach. Bass is impressive, and particularly bass layering and individuation of different simultaneous bass sounds - I heard more prominent bass guitar lines and nuances I hadn’t previously heard in some tracks, for example.

Only slight niggle function-wise was if I made a small adjustment in volume with the wheel sometimes it would go opposite for the first few clicks (i.e. slight turn up may result in slight decrease in volume) before heading in the right direction. (A similar thing actually happens with my mouse wheel).

So yes it is certainly impressive and my returning it isn’t a reflection of thinking it was *bad*. More that I’m looking for a DAP to keep for 5+ years and despite it’s good qualities I didn’t really emotionally connect with the music as much as I’d like, and wasn’t itching to keep listening to more and more, which is the kind of feeling I’ve had with other players I’ve loved.

I keep wondering, how does this one compare to the A&K SR15?
Would it make sense to get this one as an upgrade? Or is that just... A lateral motion where I basically pay for an increase in battery life and screen size with essentially a similar sound quality? I know comparisons like that are very subjective...

Do you currently have an SR15? I used to own one and personally found the sound quite thin, like the body in the bass and lower mids just wasn't there. In the SR15 thread there was at least one other who posted about a lack of bass too and I certainly don't think I had a dud unit or anything.

But I mentioned the lack of body in the SR15 just a few days ago in the SR25 thread: again, one other person felt the same but a number of others couldn't believe I would hear it as thin.

So it seems like my thoughts on the SR15 are a bit of an outlier, but for my ears the M6Pro is quite a different sound from the SR15; a much more powerful sound all round, with deeper more textured bass. Both had great soundstage and sense of positioning and space. Of course, I'm going from memory of the SR15 sound here, but it was the thinnest sounding DAP (to my ears) I've owned by quite a margin.

As you say, impressions are subjective and if there's any chance for you to trial the M6Pro (and SR15, if you don't already have it) then I'd highly recommend it: hearing is believing
