Shanling M6 PRO - New version coming Summer 2021
Nov 9, 2020 at 8:42 PM Post #376 of 959
I tried to use the new version of Hibi music that came out the other day. it is terribly slow in scrolling through albums, rewinding does not work, there is a delay in menu tabs. it's a bad player for me. The home screen with the cover is beautiful only. I would try uapp, but I can't install google services to download it. Why is there no support from the box for this patch? Shanling, are you kidding us ?????

Send you PM.

The article mentions 7.1.1 as also being an issue too. I mentioned the tidal version 2.3.3.0 in parentheses in my post, the latest from the play store.

Regarding Tidal. The fix is to reboot the device completely. Connect wifi.
Tidal will connect. Now close Tidal, disconnect wifi. Now open tidal, connect wifi, tidal will no longer connect to the internet. Reboot the device and its fixed. It's a hassle, but at least it's a fix.

According to the statement from Let's Encrypt, this change effects only devices prior to 7.1.1. As such, our devices should face no problems, but our software team is looking into this, to make sure.

Thank you for confirming version of Tidal. In our region version 2.32.1 is still listed as the latest one. Will be sure to test it again when version V2.33 is available.

Shanling, or anyone else -

Can anyone explain how the akm4497 chips are implemented in the M6 Pro? I somehow stumble across this attachment while browsing. I don't really know what it means, but I've read a few times that it's a rather involved chip, and if it's not implemented properly, the full potential of the chips won't be realized. I've always used devices that utilize Cirrus Logic chips, as it's a sound I like and am familiar with. I'd really like for my next dap to have these chips.
Also - Can anyone compare / contrast this device with the Hiby R5, or the Ibasso DX160? Or anything that uses the CS43198 chips?

I sold my R5 because I always use M6 pro, everything is better, R5 lack body, impact/dynamic and soundstage compared to M6 pro.
M6 pro mids are a bit warm but in the right way and pairs very well with Volt.
I’d listen new one M8 and new Hiby R6...

Thanks for the response. I don't like ESS Saber chips, and the M8 is beyond my reach. I really like the size of the R5, and it doesn't give any problems. How does the M6 Pro function / operate? Are there many bugs, quirks, etc? From what I've read in this thread, it certainly seems so.

I hadn’t issues with M6 pro and it’s faster than R5 for sure.
I listen through Tidal/qobuz mainly, but it sounds better with files and Shanling music app. I didn’t download Hiby music or others players.
Forgot... I listen Dx200 max and compared them for almost 3 weeks... I don’t miss iBasso, maybe I’ll go with M8 but I’m curious about New R6, DX300 🙈

I'd just use the stock music app, but I do like to use UAPP. However, it seems people are experiencing issues with it on this dap.

Ah... don’t forget, if you love MSEB, M6 Pro hasn’t it.
I miss it for fine tuning with my IEMs/Cans but you know... cables can help in this way 🙈
Anyway M6 pro display and touch works far better and case isn’t big, it’s smaller than iPhone X but thicker obviously.

Yeah, I looked at the measurements. It's right between the size of my R5 and V40. I don't stream. I'd only use it with local files. I tried messing around with MSEB - Didn't care for it much. I think I'll keep my R5 and use it for the gym and working out. Still want to do some more research on this dap before pulling the trigger.

For the issues on side of UAPP, this is advice one of our customers got from UAPP:

Go into the app's settings, Internal > HiRes audio, HiRes driver format and select 24-bit packed

Any comments on my previous post / attachment, as to how you've implemented the dac chips? Or is that classified, top secret, proprietary information only? 😜

These questions are up for a deeper discussion, as in audio there is hardly one way how to "implement properly".
But will try to ask our engineers if they want to provide some comment on this.

This is a real issue and we are now checking if or how it might impact our production.
