Please consider to bring out some special editions of the M5S.

For example:
- white color
- transparent body
- titanium body

White color - It's really complicated to get white anodized aluminium, so would end up with silver frame, like white M1. And since M5s has more massive edges than M1, don't think it would look that good.
Transparent glass - possible, but you would only get look on boringly looking battery and some silver shielding.
Titanium body - Reserved for limited edition, 1 500 USD

Meanwhile, FiiO is launching the oh-so-capable M6 at $150. Makes the price of M5s look, errm, well............

If I have to .... buy a DAP on my own, it is definitely the Shanling M5s. Simply because it is “best for the money” now!

If ... :angel:Santa could bring a Xmax gift, it would be another alternative DAP: a Cowon PLENUE 2 Mark Ⅱ! This device is so beautiful! (and over price (2.5K usd on amazon :grimacing:) too)!

BTW, I found some early reviews from happy M5s customers:

Plenue 2 Mark II is going for $999 now on Amazon.

I don't know but it also costs 2300 usd in Vietnam also (officially distributor price)! What a shame for Cowon Plenue!
http://shop.loa.com.vn/may-nghe-nh-c-cao-c-p-cowon-plenue-2-mark.html

The "shame" is on a distributor in your country who wants to make extra profit, similar to recently discussed (in another thread) Lotoo distributor in japan who charges extra $800 for LPGT. But anyway, I think we got way off topic in this Shanling M5s thread, so let's get back

Anybody knows when the next M5s fw going to be released with all the additional goodies? I'm especially curious about previously mentioned dsd sound effects. I think that will bring more attention to this DAP :D

@twister6 you still have not answered my question yet: when do you write the intensive M5s review?:astonished:

I think I answered it already with a question in my previous post about "when is the next fw going to be released?" I'm a bit burned out now and still catching up with end of the year reviews. But nevertheless, been putting more mileage on M5s, and I can hear it got warmer in tonality, good pair up with brighter (more revealing) IEMs.

Well, M5s has two latest DACs from AKM and great amp circuit in balanced setting. Fiio M6 seems like lovely device, but its combined audio chip is actually lower grade than the one we use in Shanling M0.

So as always, it's about priorities.

I think M6 is more of a direct competition to Hiby R3 than everything else. FiiO is playing very wise, they don't want M6 to be a competition to M9. No balanced, no track navigation buttons but a beautiful screen.
