Return to our simpler MTouch portable players, designed for users demanding the best sound quality, without all the complexities and issues of Android systems.

M5 Ultra is the first player to reveal our new body design, abandoning smooth round lines for more aggressive angular shapes and edges. Its construction follows our high standards, with a machined aluminium frame and glass panels, a bright 4.7-inch HD touchscreen, a trio of hardware buttons for playback control and our classic volume wheel, now with extra illumination.

Running on Ingenic X2000 platform, featuring our latest generation of MTouch system. With a customizable main menu providing quick access to all the files stored on MicroSD card, alongside the built-in Tidal Online Streaming app. And offering a wide range of other playback modes, including USB DAC, DLNA, Airplay and Bluetooth Receiver, now updated with a new wireless module for Bluetooth 5.2 support.

Audio section combines our experience with H7 and M9 Plus. From H7 taking over the balanced amplifier built around Texas Instruments TPA6120A2 and the flagship AKM AK4499EX DAC and AK4191 modulator, but adding the improved I/V conversion stage from M9 Plus. Resulting in our favourite smooth and slightly warmed up sound, that reaches deep into sub-bass, envelops you in a rich soundstage and provides plentiful detail. And thanks to its beefed-up amplifier, providing up to 1100 mW @ 32 Ohm, M5 Ultra becomes one of our most powerful portable players, right alongside the flagship M9 Plus.

Shanling M5 Ultra will retail at 589 USD

Yah! I've been waiting for this.
I had the M5s which I loved so much, it led me to the M3, M3X, M6 21 Pro, UP2, UP4 and UP5. I've been looking forward to the return of a Non Android MTouch player. Expect Shanling House Sound, exceptional double digit battery life, almost instant on. Am I close @Shanling ?

Interesting to see more specs when available. I still use my M3X since the summer of 2021, it’s been solid for me mostly all the time.

Very excited for this DAP. I had a M5s, which also lead me to other Shanling DAPs like the M3X and M3 Ultra and other MTouch DAPs like the Q1 and the M1s, which I really enjoy and use on a regular basis. I'm happy they are resurrecting the M5 series and are making a high end, full size MTouch DAP.

I bought my last DAP simply because I wanted Android access for Qubuz and upnp streaming from my server. I understand that a smaller OS may be desirable for perfectionists but there's a way to do both. No car android auto, No Hi Def Streaming services, No online vides, etc, etc. If it rocks for the price, It will be plenty versatile enough, but I it would be nice to do more for a minor increase of cost.

I am not a fans of Android based music player, I always prefer pure music player sadly it's not many. Shanling really had me interested with this M5 Ultra, definitely this DAP is on my radar, can't wait for more info.
