Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

@Shanling

Could you, but any chance, tell what exactly the "Prime Mode" is and what benefits it might provide? Does it have anything to do with optimisation of system resouces and performance? I've consistently experienced a certain issue with Android devices (smartphones) and music playback which I believe might lie somewhere in this plane. Namely, something that may be described as a gradual degradation of audio quality over a pretty short period of time/use of the device, even if it's limited to only one application (a music player app). This effect "resets" / temporarily alleviates itself after fully closing / forcefully terminating the app to load it out of memory and then begins to accumulate again with further use. It can also be observed when comparing the sound while lots of background processes (apps and system services) are active and present in RAM/memory cache VS while as much of those are terminated/cleared as possible.
Prime mode lets only default Shanling Music active. So you are not dealing with notifications, apps running on background, etc.

The processing of audio in our system is quite different from stock Android, with all of its resamplings.

Thank you for your attention. So, one can suppose that your software enginners did a thorough job to extensively modify the stock system (if I'm getting it right) to optimize software performance with audio quality in mind and it's not limited to AGLO technology, that is "just" bypassing the resampling done in the system audio mixer? That's great. Android on itself works with memory cache and buffers inefficiently and that may be the root cause for the issues I've experienced and am concerned about.

Can I also ask you how the change between the "Prime Mode" and Android Mode is done? Does the system reboot when changing between them? Is it similar to the "Dual OS" on iBasso players?

I'm sorry, but there's not much info on this aspect that I was able to find myself.

It's different from Dual OS of ibasso. It's not rebooting, it's not starting different OS. It's just cutting switching within the Android.

@Shanling

Hello there, I have the M3X as well and I am interested to know if there is a way to boot into the bootloader (like some Android devices you have to hold a combination of power and volume buttons) in case of need.

Thank you very much.
you can easily go to recovery via button combinations like if you wanna reset that way, but what will you do in the bootloader? are you going to flash something?

Thanks, yes correct. I am toying with the possibility of installing a system wide EQ like JDSP or V4A.

The problem is, button combos don’t work, I haven’t had any success figuring out any combination that boots me to the bootloader on my M3X.

Would you happen to know?

Have you tried adb in developer mode? "adb reboot bootloader"

I'm sorry, what do you mean by "just cutting and switching" within the Android?

Again, please forgive me if I'm being irksome. I just have to understand as much as possible before going for it would be a very large expense for me and the software has proven to be a very serious issue in my experience.

Thank you for your patience!

Have you checked your streaming settings in the app? It will adapt to best available I think, so if connection not strong you may not get ultra hd
May need to download them for that
I have checked the streaming setting in the app and I have the Ultra HD box checked. WIFI signal is 99% and download speed is over 50 mps...when using the Amazon music app on my Galaxy Note 10+ 5G the apps says that the "device is capable of "24 bit 192k"...when I open the HD "button" while playing a ultra hd track with the M3X the screen says the device is capable of 16 bit 44k....I have several MQA files and when I play those the M3X screen clearly shows the player is playing at High resolution standards...???Gotta be a Amazon HD Music problem right?

Hello Shanling. Regarding the problem of a TIDAL videos that can’t be rotate to get whole display image (the button that allow this is missing…) will it be fixed in future firmware upgrade?

It's switch within the Android. It shuts down background apps and runs only Shanling music player. It doesn't boot different system like iBasso.

If you believe there are some deep issues in Android working, i can recommend our M2X or M5s, they run simpler linux based system.
