Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

The dap was bought 1 year ago. I have tried to reproduce what happened. When I have turned it off, in 24 hours, it has not lost battery charge this time. When I have left it on without using it, it loses 10% in the same 24 hours. I am thinking of doing a factory reset, how can I do it?
I'm thinking 10% in 24h hours in idle mode with one year battery is not bad. Maybe something is little bit draining battery in background and factory reset could help, but I wish my unit has the same battery drain. Unfortunately, even with new battery, something draining around 40% battery in 12 hours.

my device has a discharge when idle much lower then 10%. *maybe* 2%, but its hard to measure.
however, i think this depends a LOT on settings and installed applications. a single wonky app can easily throw this.
i would suggest to think twice when installing apps on the device. if it is not neccesary to play audio, better install in on the cellphone instead.

How hard is it to swap the battery on the M3U, My M0 will be obsolete once the battery goes on it. It has a weird screen spot that is slightly brighter than the rest of the screen also. Could be the battery pressing on the back of the screen.

Anyone have a convincing reason to get M3U over M0 Pro or M0 Pro over M3U (Sound aside and android - more as a device). Mostly single ended use or 2.5mm trrs.

EDIT: Wrong thread - M3U not M3X

Changing battery on M3U is similar to standard smartphone, but a bit easier as we are not packed so tight.

You can also exchange the battery and screen on M0.

Main reason to pick M0 Pro over M3U would be its size, M0 Pro is tiny.

Have you guys tried installing custom rom on this Device? I'm looking into installing custom rom on this as Android 7.1.1 is really going into the EOL cycle as not much apps supports this OS anymore, I feel like it's going to be a brick anytime soon. I'm worried that the DAC chip won't be fully used with a custom ROM

if you find custom roms specifically for M3X, let me know :) as far as i know, no one makes those

Hi, the M3X stopped responding to the touchscreen. The screen is intact, the image is also there. What could be the reason? Is it possible to buy a display module and replace it?

Please advise @Shanling .
Did you try a reboot? I had the same issue the other day on my M3 Ultra. I had to hold the power button for much longer than normal and eventually the device rebooted and was fine again.

Cheers

There is a bug where every so often the the device stops responding to taps and button presses, including the volume wheel. The only way to get out of that is to hold down the power button until it powers off, then hold the power button until it turns on.

It happens every so often and is very annoying.

If the screen is unresponsive after a reboot, it must be something different.

The buttons work, only the touchscreen doesn't work.

Please try to boot into Android recovery menu and perform reboot or even factory reset from there.

1. Turn off player.

2. Hold down volume wheel and top left button at the same time, hold until Shanling logo appears. If performed successfully, image of green robot and “No command” text will appear.

3. Hold down volume wheel and while holding it down, turn it one step clockwise.

4. Now you entered Android Recovery menu. Use volume wheel up/down to go through menu and press volume wheel to confirm. Wipe data/Factory reset option can be found in the middle.

Thank you for the instructions. As soon as I get home from the trip I will try. I will let you know the results.

I rooted my M3x with QFIL but was never able to get Viper4Android to process. JamesDSP works fine though (with AML installed).
Hi, please can you indicate me how to proceed with QFIL for rooting the M3 please ? (I tried the edl method but for unknow reason edl does not work on my computer so would like to try with QFIL but don’t know how to proceed).
You would be so nice to help me 😅
