I found a way to disable the 2 Shanling apps that "get in the way": but it means losing the Shanling Music App and then I can't get 1 of the Navigation Buttons to work on my launcher (Nova).

do you mean the prime mode button? that one indeed will break if you disable the music app. other then that i have not noticed anything not working right.

No, the standard Android navigation buttons:
The first 2 work fine: Back and Home. The third (square) is supposed to show all open apps. It does nothing. This happens on multiple launchers, not just Nova. Unless I can find a solution it's going to be returned. I don't give a vermin's butt about Prime Mode

very odd indeed, i am not having this problem. have you tried resetting your device? provided the screen is not broken at that spot, i would be surprised if this was a hardware issue.

Those buttons work with default Shanling Launcher. It also works with Nova Launcher but there's no way to get Nova to "stick" as the default launcher. If I press the middle (Circle - Home) button when using Nova it switches back to the Shanling launcher. If I disable the Shalling Launcher (Quickstep) and Shanling Music Nova will "stick" but then that Right button becomes non-functioning.
Can you detail the steps you took to get Nova to work and "stick"? I'm close to just calling it a wrap and sending it back.

there is no quickstep app on my device, installed was launcher3.
anyway i used adb to disable com.shanling.MusicApp and launcher3, installed nova launcher and then made the nova launcerh default in settings - apps.

Got to say, I've had the M3X a while now and don't find any problem with the basic setup. I use Amazon HD and play Tidal through UAPP. For my few thousand older MP3's, Flac's, and Ogg's, I use the HiBy App or UAPP, both of which I am happy with. All in all the Shanling compares well with my HiBy R5. Personally I think it is a great little player.

Is Amazon Music playing at 192 kHz on the M3X? For some reason my R5 now only plays at 16/44.1 (with Amazon). I'm sure it used to work correctly.

Playing just now 'In the air tonight' Phil Collins, on the M3X, which is an 'ultra hd' track, the Amazon HD app, shows 192khz. On the HiBy R5 the same track, 'In the air tonight' shows as 44.1khz. I have Amazon HD on both players set to play HD/Ultra HD in the music quality settings. I use an older Amazon APK on the Hiby due to compatability problems.

Thanks for the info. The older version on the Hiby still doesn't work in hi-res? I am sure it used to work in the past but don't know which version. The only thing that's changed recently is the latest firmware which I recently installed (2.02G).

Luncher3 = Quickstep.
Did the exact same steps as you - disabled lancher3 (Quickstep), Shanling Music and made Nova default launcher. Have even tried totally resetting and going through it a second time, disabling the 2 Shanling apps in different order, etc. No matter what I end up with the "circle" navigation not working. Pretty important as without it you can't switch between apps or even close them without a ton of gymnastics. Did you do the firmware update on the Ultra when you got it?

other then that, i dont know how to help you. your device cant be faulty because the issue only occours when you tweak the system. i never had this issue. i did didsable many more apps from within the android settings and also tweaked nova launcher to remove as much of it from the home screen as possible. hard to say if this is what made the difference, though.
not sure what you mean, i have the m3x, not the m3u. i did ugrade to fw 1.63

Has anyone noticed a (minor) rattling on thier M3X?
If I hold the unit with the USB port upwards and gently shake it, I can hear something knocking against the case back.
Could be the battery?
