I listen to electronic, jazz, metal, minimalist, and rock. I don't tend to look at DAPs as genre specialists. I just try to find good ear/headphone pairings for each DAP to fine timer the sound to better meet my preferences for warm to neutral sound, avoiding brighter, sharper sound.
I just realized you're Nikolaus Matheis. awesome! That's right about your comment. warm and neutral sound.

Depends on what you're looking for sound-wise and size-wise. If you'd rather have a more fun type sound in a smaller package, M2s. If you'd like more serious sound, balanced output, and more battery life, M3s is the better choice for you. If you want more serious type sound in a smaller package, then you need to look elsewhere.

Hoping that helps. If not, feel free to PM me and I'll try to help you out. I've tried a lot of DAPs, so I could probably help steer you towards a good DAP that meets your needs.

U got pm! :D

I am looking for the exact same thing. Warm to neutral and avoid bright and sharper sound. May I know what is your current pairs?

I've been using iBasso IT03 + Effect Audio Ares II cable with 2.5mm balanced termination lately. The Ares II cable helps add some warmth in the lower mids that I found missing with the stock cable. Sounds pretty darn good. Can't wait to hear iBasso IT04!

M3s has arrived at the local store. I will get one tonight, on top of my M2s.

Please do review on the comparisons of m2s and m3s! As well as the comparisons of using m2s and m3s as DAC for mobile phones (Spotify). Thanks!

George,

You seem to be very much involved in this thread as well as in Hidizs AP200 thread. Could you please compare M3s with AP200 in few words? I've got M3s and am quite happy with it, but would AP200 represents higher level DAP?

Many thanks!

Following!

I still don't have both M3s and AP200, I have AP200 and M2s. Comparing the two, both are really nice Hiby based DAPs!

Could you please tell me more about the differences between Ap200 and m2s? Which one is better? Im considering three of the DAP, Ap200, m2s and m3s. Not sure which one to go for TT

Just got my m3s. Initial impressions are quite positive. Using it as a dac on windows doesn't seem to require any driver installation.
Holding it makes me feel like i'm holding a brick but it feels quite solid. The cover seems to obstruct a little of the knob but i think its fine once you get used to it.
