@Shanling the wheel on my M3s just fall off, I can put it back on again but now does not click anymore. My M3s is unusable :disappointed:

If your wheel is no longer able to click, it means that inside mechanism was damaged, can happen when inserting the wheel back into device.
You can send device to our offices for out of warranty repair. Or can check if some distributor nearby doesn't have some spare wheels, so you could exchange it yourself.

Alright, will try....i was hoping for a @Shanling response....

Always respond once I get into office.

Thanks for your reply. Since Penon is China based I think I prefer to send it directly to you. Can you please PM me with the necessary info for shipping?

Hi to everyone ..
I have two problems with this supperb player ..
I using it as a normal headphones and sometimes it is conected to my bluetooth car ( aptx mode).
With FW v1.5 and yesterday i have installed v1.7 but the problem continues ..

Problems in bluetooth :

* When i stop car player , the m3s continues playing music until it get off of battery . Sometimes it disconects but goes to config bluetooth screen.
* Why is the volume the same as in the heaphones volume? This is a problem when you wanted to connect with headphones later.. If volume its 60 or more you can break your ear !!!!

Maybe it's a fw upgrade ... or a problem with my car mp3 player...?
If i used my car connected to my mobile with bluetooth everything works perfect...

Thanks a lot ..

Car stereo systems are using wide variety of systems, so it's hard for small manufacturers to set system to work properly with it at all times.
HiBy system used in M3s is working with single volume over both Headphone and BT out, it was like that for long time and don't expect any change.

Ok , i have checked with two systems ... my Car system and a Bluetooth 4.1 to line out adapter ... Both have the same problem ...

a) When i disconects the radio / bluetooth adapter m3s continues playing ... forever until battery getting down ... or sometimes stop and go direct to the bluetooth screen selector.
B) Why the volumen its the same in the bluetooth mode and in the normal earphone mode ?

I think this is not a car / bluetooth ... Maybe fw / hardware .. m3s problem ... ?

Thanks a lot ..

It's unfortunately how system in M3s is set up.

In case someone's tested this or knows a more technically-justified answer: what's the best volume range to set my M3s to if the signal continues on to an external amplifier vs. 3.5mm AUX line? I've been setting it to 40% volume at low gain then doing high gain on my amp (I prefer high gain for fuller sound on my planar headphones), but lately I've been setting the volume to 60-70% thinking that 40% was maybe too low. Should I be using 100% or is that going to be lowering the dynamic range?

For most portable players, the recommendation is usually to set the DAP output to MAX, which provides approximately the same voltage output as a "normal" Line Level Output.

That's true, I usually do that when connecting to car speakers. I'm just not sure about this particular DAP. Maybe the higher output level (on low gain) starts introducing some distortion or maybe it's got just the right mix of ingredients, so to speak.

Since M3s has line out mode in settings, it's our recommendation to use that when connecting to external amplifier with volume control.

Well, I feel silly... I've had this DAP for a while now and have used it with an amp for as long. Completely overlooked that setting. I've found it now and set output to "LO" (Line Out). Thank you!!

Is there any way to output music via USB-C from M3s to Audeze Mobius headphone? I've noticed that when I plug in the headphone to USB-C port with headphone powered off, M3s gives "audio equipment connected" message for a couple seconds, followed immediately by "audio equipment disconnected". If I power on the headphone and set it to USB mode and 2-channel setting (that's the compatibility setting for DAPs) and try to play anything on M3s, no sound comes through. M3s is set to USB mode. DAC mode is probably wrong for this purpose, but I've tried that too, just in case. Mobius recognizes that it's plugged into the DAP and automatically switches to the appropriate USB mode, but M3s doesn't cooperate in return.

While I can connect the two via Bluetooth, I'm not a fan of the resulting sound. Mobius sounds lots better connected via USB to my computer so I wanted to try it with M3s too.

P.S.: just updated to firmware 1.7 from 1.5. Thank you so much for finally adding the wheel scroll speed setting! Set to level 1 now and it's perfect.

@Shanling Hi and thank you for developing an absolutely awesome DAP for the price point. As it was mentioned in this thread, you are not planning to support this player with firmware updates any longer, so I was wondering, where can I find the source code for the firmware (as required by GNU GPL license) so that we can look into supporting it on an opensource basis.

M3s uses Hiby music, which is not open source, Shanling don't even own the rights to the firmware or develop it themselves.
