currently listening "Brothers in Bamako" by Habib Koité & Eric Bibb: no change in sound with new firmware.
If you don't know this music album I cannot guarantee you will like it, but it's worth a try, they are great musicians.

Edit : does someone else think sound has changed? For me it is a definitive no it doesn't... And I appreciate this, coming from an Ibasso where every firmware has a different sound.

Edit2: bug found in new firmware : screen lock fonction is inverted, locked when off, unlocked when on.

Dear Judge584,

Thank you for your question:
1. We did not change the sound signature of the new FW.
2. This is a misunderstanding due to the incorrect wording: this function is in fact a "locked screen manipulation" function, off means you can manipulate the unit with locked screen; on means that you cannot.

Thanks.

Good question!

@Shanling?

Dear All,

Thank you for your concerning and suggestions on this hint.

However it is a pity that we did not change this limitation in the version-since under the testing and debug we found that the system response time is much longer than before.

M3 supports to up to 128GB and if we are talking about lostless files, there are a few opportunities that we go exceed 5800 files within 128GB. So we decided not to have this till now.

Thanks.

Sadly no luck, the only way I can get it turned on is using the reset button.

May be try a firmware downgrade (v2.1) just to further confirm?
If after downgrade, button works fine again, try download another time the new firmware and try again?

But this is really strange.
Let's say once you are able to turn it on (via reset), is the button still working for function such as powering down/ turn screen on/ turn screen off?

Shanling's implementation of the button on M3 is weird.
Turn Unit Power On > short press of button (Imo, this should be long press of button)
Turn LCD Screen Off > short press of button
Turn LCD Screen On > short press of button
Turn Unit Power Off > long press of button

Perhaps the OS got corrupted after your last firmware upgrade, in that the new OS only see 'short press of button' as either Turn LCD Screen On or Off but not Turn Unit On anymore.

Thank you for your answer Shanling!

I admit I have trouble to understand your explanation about "locked screen manipulation".

My M3 has the function "Screen locked" set to "ON", and when screen is locked I can manipulate the device. If I set it to off I cannot manipulate my M3 while screen is locked.

@Shanling : Is it normal? Do you confirm?
@Shanling (happy) customers : what's your thoughts about it?

Hardest reset out there is a dead battery

Glad you're back up and running audionewbi!

M3 is essential part of my setup. While I don't use it all the time as a stand alone dap at home it is always paired with various amps and chord Hugo.

I really like its no mess around UI and built.

Also the on and off switch seems to still is non-responsive at times. I think their is a bug somewhere in the firmware.

Hope your problem is solved otherwise maybe you have a faulty unit.

And how about sound? Do you like your M3?
