It works on both. When you on a songs, Album, Artist or other list the pressing down or up buttons will page scroll. A long press will scroll quickly if needed on long list.

@Shanling thank you for introducing Gradual filter option in latest update, it makes A LOT of difference to me!
Any chance to provide access to other AK4490 preset filters?

Filters are being implemented in software in cooperation with HiBy. And since the same software is used on wide range of players, it's not connected to the fitlers of AK4490.

Thanks for your impressions, guess ill wait longer to see if shanling will release any newer higer end model Thay compare well or perfrom better than x5 iii.

imo, we need a similar style dap (m2s and m1) with better sq named m3s and another one with android named m5s.

I have an M3 and am very satisfied with the design and sound quality. I don't need Android or streaming, as I think it detracts from both. But the other Shanling players offer a compelling alternative. The streaming Android players all seem to have major issues. The one I owned certainly did.

i agree you on android daps. i don't use streaming, bluetooth etc. but consumers want it and shanling will eventually follow that trend.

M2s is close to the perfect DAP for me. Maybe if there is a M3s or M5s coming, just take the M2s as basis and add a second card slot and 4.4mm balanced out.

Good to know lastest firmware have it. I'll try to update later today and check. Thanks for the info.

I would love a small Andriod based DAP with streaming and Bluetooth. The size of the M2s would be fine though I wouldn't mid if it was M1 size. When at the gym I use both Bluetooth (sometimes) and Spotify (almost always). I simply don't have all the songs that I have on my Spotify playlist.

Either that or a DAP that can receive Audio from my phone utilizing AptX, so I can stream Spotify to my DAP better quality than my M1 or M2s are currently capable of. That would make me happy too.

Can someone tell me what is the bit rate of Bluetooth Spotify streaming between iphone6 and m2s?
There is a "high quality" option in the bluetooth menu. Does it work with iphones (as i have read aptX does not).

I have just received SMSL Idea usb dac and have managed to connect it to my M2S.
This dac has known issues with android devices and has the same issues with m2s. When you connect it first there is only buzzling sound comming from the headphones.
The way to make it work is to play a song while the dac is connected, then briefly disconnect and reconnect the usb cable. If it does not work, just do it again till it does
If you want to use dsd dop, keep in mind that the volume of m2s should be on 100%. Otherwise you will hear only noise.
The sound of smsl idea has more air, but less energy than m2s with ie800 iems

One question @Shanling : what kind of cable would I need to get to bypass the dac amp in m2s? I tried with a micro usb otg and the usb c cable that came with the m2s but no go. Also tried with usb mode: DAC on m2s

4.4 mm is pretty new standard and we don't feel it's supported enough by third parties. Maybe in year or two, when you can easily find connectors and cables, sure. It's really great connector and I would be happy to see it on our players. But for now, we would go with biggest standard, 2,5 mm.
