I don't know about the rest of you, but I find the Head-Fi site confusing. It is not obvious to me why I seem to be subscribed to some threads but not others. Some threads where I was subscribed have now become either dark energy or dark matter. And I don't know what either of those are but neither do physicists.

Yes, I'm finding myself in Facebook groups more than HeadFi these days...

I think its okay to talk about what else you are looking at. It helps provide a frame of reference. My guess is that you were also looking at the Cayin N3; so are most people looking at this thread.

Hi guys, need to give you one update on M2s and our beta firmware in case you would wish to downgrade to older firmware:

We find out one problem when trying to downgrade to older firmware on M2s. If you wish to downgrade, don't use "system update" feature in setting. Instead, put older firmware on SD card, turn off player and then press play/pause button for 10 seconds. This will force automatic firmware update and your M2s unit will be downgraded without problem.

New version of Beta firmware should be ready next week and will fix this problem and other small errors.

Shanling team is fantastic bringing all the updates and making the M2s a better music player with new updates.
Looking forward to see what high end player they plan to release this year.
Same UI no touch screen and dual DAC AKM 4497 Eq and full SD card will be my wish.

Just curious about this. Does that button combination get you into some sort of a system recovery?
If so, this would be really helpful for firmware modders in case an update goes wrong.

I am considering the M2s but would like to ask how it is with sensitive multi-driver ciems, as i heard its predecessor, the M2, was quite noisy. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've just read the reviews in this forum re: the M2. I absolutely have no experience in hires players except an iPod5th with Rockbox.

I have used the M2s as stand alone dap with my IEMs, i hear no hiss.
