Has anyone found a way to disable Skip, even when screen is unlocked? I listen to files 20 hours long and accidentally pressing skip restarts the whole session.

Unfortunately there is no such thing in settings, only way I can think of, is if you would physically disable the button. I would say we never thought somebody would be listening to 20 hours songs.

A 20 hour song, yeah I'd say really unlikely too. But for audio books, even at just 3 or 4 hours long, having to fast forward back to where you were listening just because you hit the ?! *#% skip (either direction) by mistake can get very frustrating.

I'll request politely that you pass this along to your software folks creating the M0 firmware and a useful future preference. A disable buttons (if the screen is off or always) and / or disable volume control. Now I know that the M0 is touchscreen so it wouldn't have buttons but it still should be possible to make sure that you'll not be able to change tracks by mistake.

bsoplinger nailed it. Audiobooks. Disabling skip is essential. Some books are 200hrs long.…
As I read this, I'll modify my request to @Shanling, and offer a request for a preference to disable skip but keep the ff/rev function of those 'buttons' as a future M0 feature request. I say future because of the assembly pics that have been shown. I'd guess that version 1.0 of the firmware is already set but I'm sure that it'll need an update soon after release. Pretty much any software does because of bugs found by users who use the software in ways that the developers never envisioned or tested.

That would be the ideal functionality! Skip disabled, but fast forward and reverse still enabled. Please, Shanling!

If you have 200 hours long files, you are doing something wrong. Just split it into smaller files and you will not have to deal with such unique problems.

BTW, I love the Malazan saga, read all 10 books in main series.

On M0, since it has only one button/wheel, you can choose in settings what it does on double click. It can be even turned off. But you will still have the "previous" arrow on now playing screen and that's not going away.

Is there a limit to the path and filename? I know the song is available in the given path but when it gets to that file in the playlist the player will skip.

I also noticed that when it updates the listing in the microsd card, it gets update to 64XX tracks and stopped.

The last firmware was 4.1 and I just updated to 4.3, but it seems to be the same. Hence, my theory of my songs reaching its max in terms of foldername and filenames chracters.

Any ideas?

There is a limitation. I've come across it myself when I ripped the first Mercury classical collection box. The program I use combines the artist and title to create the filename for the flac file. So you can imagine the filenames that can result when you have xxx conducting the yyy symphony orchestra featuring zzz cello (or piano, etc) and a title like aaa 1st sympony and bbb something dances and ccc in 3 parts type names. I'd try to open the folder of the CD and see a list of filenames that always threw an error about the file. I ended up using a Windows batch file rename program and the M1, going through every directory one by one then playing each file one by one to make sure it'd play. When there were issues I'd rename to something shorter, copy those files to the micro SDXC card and repeat until I had good, playable files. Took all day to go through the 50 CDs from the box. At least I didn't have to rip again or edit tags. Just rename the files.

If someone can give the exact limits that'd be great. Especially because the batch rename tool I'm using has a truncated length function.

Since the last update my m1 does not shutdown so if I charge and play an album when I try to use it next day I get battery depleted message

what firmware version are you on? The last firmware version that shutdown to my satisfaction was 3.0; then they moved to stand-by and it was really easy to drain the unit. So if you are on firmware beyond 3.0 you may try 3.0 and be much happier.

Ditto. Since I went back to version 3 from the first release of version 4 I've never come back to a dead player. That happened regularly with the version 4 firmware.

New firmware for M1, 4.4. Mainly fixing the battery indicator problem.

Please download and see, if there are any other problems still ongoing.
