Does anybody know what "slow rolloff" in new FW 3.0 actually do? I hope it changes Sabre DAC hardware register for DAC filter rolloff shape, but I am not sure.. Also I know about six different Sabre hardware settings.. Hope in future FW we will be able change all this settings

According to Post #1 of this thread, the M1 uses an AKM (Asahi Kasei Microdevices) AK4452 DAC, rather than a Sabre DAC.

To answer your question, yes - the digital filter high frequency roll-of response shape is now controllable in the Firmware.

Oh, sorry, AKM of course. I mean "- Sharp Roll-Off Filter - Slow Roll-Off Filter" from datasheet/ OK, thanks, nice feature

Thanks, now waiting for Hybilink suppport for IOS

Still in the works and something we have no impact on. :frowning2:

I would be so happy if I see "Added bookmark feature"
Did you change anything about screen lock operations? I am still at v1.12 because it was perfect for me.

Hmm, what exactly you preffered on 1.12firmware controls compared to current builds?

Things I love about the M1:

Things I might improve/add in FW version 4.0 if I were really picky:

1. Despite my earlier optimism about my Samsung 256 Gb EVO cards, I still have the occasional boot-up glitch. With my SanDisk 200 Gb cards, my poor M1 would go into an endless boot-loop and would be stuck forever unless I removed the SDcard during boot-up. With my Samsung 256 Gb EVO cards, sometimes it boots up straight away, other times it seems to reboot once or twice, but it always eventually gets there. (But as a result, my M1 takes an unknown amount of time to boot up.) None of my other DAPs have a problem with any of these cards.

2. My FiiO X1ii can be controlled via an Android headset remote (play/pause/forward/backward wind, volume up/down, etc.). I thought that the M1, being Android based, might operate the same way, but it doesn't recognize any of my Android headset remotes. Shanling folks - this would be a nice feature to have...?!

To point 1, I read you tried multiple SD cards, with different outcomes. Just tell me, did you tried some freshly formatted card, if it was showing same problems?

@2: X1ii was especially aiming at this feature and chose different hardware for bluetooth, that might offer remote controlers to work, but has some other drawbacks. And well, I prefer to have full control of my player thanks to my phone and HiBy link, over some basic controllers. :)

Can someone post some pictures or make a video showing UI visual changes please? @Shanling

It's nothing major, just some small changes here and there that our team likes more.

Just got my M1 and I'm loving it's sound, design and features. I have no regrets selling my Fiio x5ii. I find it sounds boring for my preference and it's bigger and heavier. Before Fiio, I have Xduoo X3 and I really love the sound of the stock FW but it has pitch issues and no gapless. I didn't like the rockbox sound either. I am no audiophile and I don't care much about specs. Just want music quality that suits my taste.

If you set screen lock operation off at v1.12 or earlier builds, just play pause function works. Later builds locks every buttons and there is no option for just play pause or I couldn't manage. If I wear tight pants I am pushing skip song buttons often accidentally so I just want play pause.

You can choose: complete lock, play/pause working, volume working or Next/Previous working. Search in Settings

I know but it has just 4 options and none of them works like v1.12.

  • Off (All buttons locked)
  • Volume Adjustment Unlocked
  • Song Skips & Plays Unlocked (Both of them unlocked)
  • All Unlocked

Had a bit of a scare this morning - Pressed the Power Button, to use my M1, and nothing happened.

So, I slipped it out of its case, and poked a paperclip into the Reset button - and the screen came on, ready to play at the spot where I last paused it.

Whew! Crisis averted.

Interesting, will tell them to try to put it back

Does anyone experience battery drain when in standby mode?

I use my M1 on different times of the day. What's the best way to save battery power? Standby mode or shut it down completely?

Well, Shanling M1 doesn't have stand-by mod right now, still waiting for HiBy to implement this function.

Greetings,

I am M1 user since almost a week. Damn, this little DAP is perfect in terms of quality/price ratio!
The only thing that would be added in future FW are little GUI improvements:
  1. The percentage battery indicator instead if icon - user could choose what to display
  2. Cover Art on Lock Screen - it is now necessary, but nice for eyes :)
What type of mp3 tag are the most suitable for M1? I had a problem with ReplayGain in mp3 files (FLAC works perfectly). I noticed that I had tags saved in ID3v1, ID3v2 and APEv2 at once. When I deleted all tags except ID3v2.4 ReplayGain started to work I think. However, what are the recommendations?

M1 + MA750 is perfect portable rig :)

@Shanling Please implement this in the next FW update! Let us see our amazing album art work on the beautiful, vibrant M1 display!
