Shanling M1: An iPod Nano Competitor / DAP || USB DAC || USB Transport || Bluetooth 4.0 + aptX || DSD

@Shanling. Please speak to your engineers and verify that the unit "natively" plays DSD. I was under the distinct impression, from Shanling, that the unit does NOT natively play DSD. Instead, it does indeed convert DSD on the fly to PCM and plays that. Some early marketing videos had that fact incorrect and stated native DSD and that error was confirmed by Shanling. However, it can act as a DSD transport for the Chord Mojo, etc.

Your most recent post could be interpreted as stating that the unit natively plays DSD and I am fairly confident that is NOT correct. In my view, there is a difference between decoding to PCM on the fly vs native DSD playback.

Well, it was my mistake and missunderstanding communication with my colleagues. M1 support DSD only over USB out, when playing directly, it converts DSD to PCM.

Truly sorry for all this confusion.

Thanks Shanling, just ordered the awesome OTG cable. Hope to receive my M1 next week to pair with my Mojo.

Great product - was a big gap in the market. Not even thinking about the Chord Poly now and look to save myself +$800USD net.

Now only add piece of 3M dual lock and all is set

Yes, it will transmit in aptX, just not receive.

Correct, unfortunately current solutions are limited in this. Seems like nobody think of device, where both way AptX would be useful...

Personally if I had a Mojo this is the route I'd go:

Elegant and no sticking anything unto my expensive devices.

Yeah, I figured. The chip maker just didn't think it through. You're mainly using BT to stream audio, so you think aptX both ways would be a no the obvious choice.

Hi - I tried searching but couldn't find an answer . . . when viewing my music collection by artist . . . I am a seeing a (seemingly) random collection of songs grouped together as 'unknown album' under some artists.

All of the albums under the same artist are correctly displayed but I also have this 'unknown album' item. Most artists groupings are OK . . . but some have this issue.

What is distinct about these random 'unknown album' groupings is that they are in fact the track titles from the metadata (and not the filename that is used in the correct album groupings).

My track file naming is completely consistent across my collection and the metadata is pristine (even if I do say so myself).

Anyone experiencing the same issues? Is this a known issue?

Otherwise loving my M1 . . . and yes, it does output a DSD stream (as confirmed by the white LED on the Chord Mojo)

Thanks for any help

Introducing Shanling L2 USB cable

USB transport is one of the most popular features of M1 player, easily turning it into amazing music source for wide range of DACs. But search for appropriate USB cable can be tiring, so we decided to develop our own!

Build by hand from top quality materials, Furukawa 6N silver plated copper wires from Japan. Highly practical thanks to angled connectors (USB C to Micro USB). And working flawlessly with Shanling players and wide range of DACs.

Available from 23.6.2017 for just 25 USD

Tags are somehow messy. I would recommend, try to take one of these problematic albums, erase all tags and tag freshly, to see if it have any effect.

Unfotunately, this combination will not work.

Bought the M1 as an early self-birthday present, and I love it! Great sound (standalone) and awesome portability. Really enjoying it.

Check the tags extended fields.

Hi - so I discovered the issue. I had included the cue sheets (*.cue) in the folder.

Removing the cue sheets solved the 'Unknown Album' issue.
