Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

OK - great!
I think my use case would be:
iPhone --> SBC transmit --> M0 --> aptX or LDAC transmit --> headphones

@Shanling - Please confirm it would work.

No, such connection is not possible(can't receive and stream at the same time). And as @tim0chan said, it doesn't even make sense, since any data send from M0 would be already damaged by SBC transfer.

Already own an M1 but this is pretty tempting. I wonder if the M1 will be discontinued after this. There doesn't seem to be a massive difference between the two, so I wonder if both need to be in the lineup.

M1 still will have its place for some time. Some people dislike touch screen or is M0 simply too small for them. And M1 has the HiBy link.

Good point! I guess:
M0 --> LDAC / aptX --> headphones
makes more sense :)

Touch screen vs non touch screen seems to be fairly definitive difference? Also homegrown software as opposed to buying in.

I was going to say that the included wheel was making me assume that a lot of the playback and navigation could be done without the touch screen similar to the M1, but taking a closer look at photos, I see it has no actual playback buttons. Not sure how I didn't notice that before. Ignore my "not that different" statement!

Though sadly the lack of playback controls would make this device not something I'd prefer to use, so I'll stick to my M1.

FAQs

How can I control M0 in pocket?

With quick double tap on wheel. You can choose in settings between next, previous and play/pause for this function.

Eeek. So there's no way to play/pause and change tracks, you have to choose one or the other? I'd have thought the wheel could be used (with screen off) as forward/back, and the tap would be play/pause. Much reconsideration of enthusiasm now.

I agree, it does seem like it ought to work like the play/pause button on headsets - tap to play/pause, double-tap for next track, triple-tap to restart track or go back to previous track.

I noticed in this link https://www.head-fi.org/threads/new...ort-es9218p-and-just-99.874859/#post-14109860
one of the screenshots said "recommended headphone impedance is 8-300 ohms". My M1 can barely push my Sennheiser HD6XX's, how does the M0 compare with a similar set of headphones (i.e. HD650's)?

I know I really should be using IEM's with these sorts of devices but sometimes I like to do things I shouldn't...lol

How well it will drive your hd6xx's depends on how loud you like to listen to music.
The M1 specs are around 35 mW @ 32 Ohms (from Massdrop site), while the M0 is 80 mW at 32 Ohms. So, more power...

Assuming both output around 2 Vrms (confirmed for M0 in previous post), you should get better (i.e. louder) response from the M0.
IOW, the M0 should get louder before clipping.

Thanks for the response, the whole math/audio thing I'm still trying to learn/figure out... Clipping is definitely not an issue it's more of SQ, the M1 will work with the 300 ohms headphones but it's quiet (read: I listen to music loud, lol) and using a headphone amp makes the "portability" of the device useless.

This is more of a does it sound better question which I think you've answered... so Thanks! :D
