Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Hey, I have a similar question. My new phone doesn't support LDAC and I have a pair of bluetooth headphones that have LDAC support, something I really enjoyed before my old phone went the way of the dodo.

My question is, how does the M0 support transmitting over LDAC if the source doesn't support it? Can you use it as a USB DAC on Android and then stream LDAC? Or does the Bluetooth function simply as a data receiver and then transmit it out on any codec? If someone could enlighten me, I would really, really appreciate it.

Best regards

You can use M0 as USB Bluetooth transmitter. Firstly connect headphones to M0 and then to the phone over USB.
But to be honest, it's not the most practical setup just to get around missing codec on your phone.

Thank you so much for the quick response! I really appreciate it. This is my only way out of the current predicament and I reckon the M0 will sound much better than my old phone anyways  Android devices have inconsistent audio qualities between different brands from what I've experienced, so this should also ensure consistency and futureproofing on my end as well.

EDIT: Didn't see that @Shanling had already answered... :relaxed:

The M0 can operate as a DAP with analog & BT output, as a USB DAC with analog & BT output, _or_ as a BT receiver with analog output.

So, your use-case would be to connect the M0 via USB to your phone, and then configure it to output BT LDAC to your headphones.

Hi, I am unable to pair my Sony WF-1000XM4 with my MO. I can't even get them to show up as a found device, yet other sources around me that I am not trying to connect show up as found. Any ideas. Btw when I open my IEM case they pair to my phone immediately.

Any ideas guys?

Also, because I like my MO so much I was wondering how something like the M3Ultra would compare? I would like something a little bigger than the MO that has the ability to stream. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I use the Linkbuds S and had no problem pairing. Initially I noticed the 3 taps to restart track/previous track didn't work, but the next day all seemed to be as it should be.
Not ideal, but maybe a reset of the XM4 might do the trick?

For these Sony headphones, do a factory reset on them and then pair it firstly with M0.

M3 Ultra would be quite a step up in sound quality and of course all the possibilities of the Android. They are quite a different level of device, so let us know if there is any particular aspect you are curious about.

I have a question about that. Supposing I decided to move from my mtouch devices to Android, would I be able to move my playlists to the Android device? TIA

Android apps recognize standard playlist like the ones you can export on the MTouch, so will be fine.

Sony's now connected. Thank you for your support.

I was hoping the sound quality would improve but without heading into a more neutral, brighter direction. Good resolution but with a touch of warmth, body to it is my preference.

Technically speaking, and with no DSP, all BT sources SHOULD sound the same (if using the same codec) because you are using the DAC/amp of the TWS to do all the processing. With the source, all you are doing is transporting the music to the monitors. Having said that, if your music player or the system isn't bit perfect, you will hear some differences (or if you have EQ/PEQ on, and etc...).

Is there anything comparable to this device that has balanced outputs?

Our M0 Pro offers balanced output through its 4.4mm adapter. (or if you make yourself DIY cable)

The upgraded version M0 Pro has a balanced output, but it takes a special adapter to use it (I think it is 3.5mm balanced).

M0 Pro uses special 5-pin TRRRS 3.5mm, thanks to that we can use it both for single-ended and balanced output. The old standards 4-pin TRRS 3.5mm balanced are not compatible.

My player is broken
The player had firmware 2.4, I wanted to update it to 3.1. During the firmware update, the player gave the error "Firmware error" and turned off. It's not turning on right now. I tried to hold down the power button for 10 seconds, it doesn't work. The reset button does not help. It does not help to send the firmware to the memory card. Please help me.
