Well I should have not replied at all Rock as you did say if you use the MO as a pass through for a phone. I do use my ES100 for that purpose but I use all my Shanlings as DAP’s only and I do prefer the Shanling house sound to my Opus #1, FiiO X3ii, Cayin N3/5 and my AK Jr.

Wow ok. Those are all very reputable amp/DAC or DAP OEMs too, so it sounds like Shanling deserves some real respect here! I have the M5 on my "running list" of headphones and Hi-Fi devices on Amazon. Looks really nice! I just prefer to use my phone as the source for convenience's sake. I also have the Cayin N5 II on there as well. It's just a list I maintain to "keep me in the know" and to avoid going insane trying to keep all this info in my head. lol (Also to offer suggestions to ppl on here, etc., who ask for what to buy.)

Yes, that is correct. I'm REALLY interested in hearing from people who have streamed to the M0 (ESPECIALLY if using Sony's LDAC codec) vs. using a quality Hi-Fi DAC device (or phone) that's directly (wired) connected to headphones. Some people have claimed that the Radsone ES100 sounds better when using LDAC than their former wired setups. Is that the case for some people in this thread who own the M0??

If you stream over LDAC to M0, in theory you should be getting full quality of 16/44 files(even Hi-Res if you go with Sony marketing), so the difference will go back to difference between audio circuit in M0 and your other device. BT part in this is the less important, it's about the audio circuits.

No, I understood it was files off his phone going through the MO. The only reason I bought the ES100 was for my phone which during travel I have to stay in touch with my family and the ES100 soinds way better than my iPhone 6 and the hands free mic is way better for me as well. My phone to my ear puts my mouth way out of range for the mic!
If I’m not tied to my phone guve me a Shanling every time.

But anyway, both devices utilize Hi-Fi DACs (and amps), with the V30 using the same Sabre ES9218P DAC as the M0, though I think it's 4 of them instead of one (or 4 channels?). So it would be interesting to know what people who have done this comparison came away from it thinking.

This is exactly why I didn't like @Shanling pre-announcing the new firmware. Once they miss the release date I start to get frustrated and impatient. If they just released it when ready then no anticipation or frustration.

Whilst I fully understand people's anxiousness to get new features or an otherwise refinement in the software department. Which of the following do you think is more important or effective?

1. Shanling sticks to a strict deadline in delivering software updates

2. They deliver something that isnt half-baked?

Adhering to a deadline leaves very little room to address bugs and other software issues that may crop up as a result of firmware changes being made.
Perhaps I'm alone in this, but I'd much rather that they deliver to their users an honest software improvement not just a mere change

Not really. Software development is not magic, it can be planned. You can even budget time for testing and rework.

Before he went on a break he said the new firmware was being beta-tested in China and would be released after the break.

Previously an updated firmware was suggested for August. It is no longer August (here).
