Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Seeing how tiny that looks on top of mojo made me realise that it might actually be too small to use for me. I think the M2S equivalent would be more ideal.
It's better for the price but I do agree a larger device would be more ideal

Imagine running on a treadmill with some BT earphones and scrolling through this device on a wrist strap. That is this device. The UI is well designed and the touchscreen is nimble. It will be the athelete's dream dap.
If you're running and can take the time to scroll through your library, you're not running hard enough.

On that note though, this is why the phone app will be essential, so we can easily create a playlist before the workout so we can just hit play and forget about the M0 during the run/workout.

I found for running, the M1 is just a little too thick to wear on hip. I can position perfectly to minimize it bouncing, but fiddling with placement gets a little annoying. Don't have that issue with the Sansa Clip and Creative M300. So looking forward to the M0. I have a 10 mile race on May 6th (b-day is the 7th too), so I'm crossing my fingers on an early b-day present in time for the race. My one pair of shorts has the external pocket on the back, so the plan would be to hit play and pop it in the pocket since I won't have the belt clip yet.

Cool down, my friend, cool down. Scenario while finishing up a run/work out...let me get out of this "Ace of Bass" and get to my "Enya"...swipe swipe. Hehe.

Well, for me, the M0 was the stand-out product at the SoCal CanJam this year. Frankie (their English-speaking rep) is also a really nice guy, and I need to add to his resume/cv: amazing yo-yo skills and incredible patience (I'd bombarded him last week with questions about sampling rates in the ESS DAC). I'm happy to report the Shanling engineers seem to have done a really great job with this device. Congrats @Shanling - I think the M0 is going to be a big hit.

Really like the design and the pricing.
How does the volume control work on the m0?
I’m not familiar with how it works on the other Shanling DAPs either.

Volume control - Turn wheel to change volume, also small volume bar will appear on top of M0 screen, where you can touch to do long jumps in volume. In settings you can also choose to turn off volume wheel while device is locked.

Even if you have aptx rx and aptx tx, can they both operate at the same time? I don't think they have that feature planned.

No plans to have M0 receive and send signal at the same time. Since it makes no sense at all.

Boom! All your headphone are wireless. Should be the sales tag line :)

Shanling, do you know when musictek will get the M0? They have an amazon store which I prefer to buy from.

We hope to get them to market in early May.

Good Morning,

Sorry for the delays in posting was a long day.
First off many thanks to Frankie from Shanling for answering so many questions and being so transparent about things. Frankie is the person behind the @Shanling posts very nice guy.

only single and double rate DSD. It converts to PCM like the M1.

Nice to meet you too!

Just one correction, M0 can play native DSD64, only DSD128 must be converted to PCM by system.

Again, great to meet you

I'm glad you guys take me as good representative, I'm trying my best to keep Shanling open to any current of future customer. If only American Airlines customer service was trying the same....

If you want a good example of why this can also be a bad idea, look at Fiio. IMO, unless a DAP maker has the software expertise to doa proper job of the UI, it's best to outsource it.

From 30 years experience in technical manufacturing, it simply is never a good idea to outsource anything to a competitor. It leaves you at their mercy. I wonder how much, if anything, Shanling and Cayin etc knew about Hiby's hardware plans. Now I love my Shanling M3 and Cayin N3 but these are mature stable products and can do well with no further support at all from Hiby.

Incidentally, wasn't joebloggs at Fiio when they were first building their DAP business and having stability problems althoalt I don't know if he was developing the software. Outsourcing and collaboration can be ok but not with a competitor. There are plenty other music player apps out there to work with like UAPP, although none feature something like Hibylink. Shanling is on the right track with developing a phone app.

Don't get me wrong, I like and respect Joe, and Hiby really executed a brilliant strategy with what they did, but I wouldn't buy another player that relies on ongoing support from Hiby.

Sorry for the off topic, but what is your favorite yoyo? I've been using a onedrop markmont classic for a while now.

Back on topic, what would recommend as a good bluetooth iem pairing for the M0?

I'm actually sponsored by Yoyofficer(nowadays more just like a friend), most of the time stick with their yoyos(Zealot is really fun). But I have really weak spot for plastics, so I have quite big plastics collection(left it back in Czech for now) and my favorites are probably Recess First Base(in that video actually) and Yoyofficer X.Point.

Not a big fan of bluetooth myself, so I don't have much experience. But if I decide to go with the best possible bluetooth IEMs, I would buy Sony MUC-M2BT1(LDAC) and pair it with some great IEMs with MMCX connector.

I am wondering whether it's possible to add AAC codec to Bluetooth receiver of M0? After all it’s the only high quality Bluetooth codec iDevices support.

We are working on AAC, I hope we can make it work both ways.
