Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

You could either plug the M0 to your phone via USB or stream Tidal over bluetooth. First solution would not deteriorate SQ. Second solution would compress/ convert your music data. Depending on the bluetooth codec you will notice a drop in SQ. However, once LDAC bluetoth reception is implemented in M0 I think you would hardly notice any difference to the USB solution when straming Hi-Fi Quality Tidal music.
@Shanling
Will LDAC receiver mode come with the new FW? Please:grimacing:

LDAC receiver works nicely in next firmware. Here paired with my Honor 9.

One note to all M0 users, "quality setting" in M0's BT menu doesn't affect the receiver function, only the sending. When you use M0 as receiver, set up the quality/codec on your phone.

The volume is very low when connected to my iPhone X over bluetooth (using AAC or SBC on M0). I have to crank up the volume to almost max at my iPhone and the M0 to at least 50 to have a bit of volume.

And no sound at all when paired with my Mac over bluetooth. Tried both SBC and AAC. It works well serving as DAC when connected by usb-cable.

With BT connection, you must take your player as sort of lineout device, with M0 working as preamp. So put the iPhone on max volume and control volume on M0.

Will try to find some MAC to test BT.

Just get my M0. I connected M0 with Chord Hugo using OTG cable. Each time plays a DSD file (DOP), the sound stuttering. Playing another format like flac, always stops after a few minutes. I'm using firmware 1.5

Shanling please repair it...

We are aware of the stopping problem and it's sorted out on next firmware.
With DSD output over USB, DSD64 works fine for me.
CPU of M0 is little bit slow for DSD128, that's why we limited it just for D2P mode for now. Unfortunately, when you add USB out, the DSD128 is simply too much for M0 to handle.

Hi, i just red a german M0 review. The reviewer said that he couldnt make out a difference in soundquality comparing the little M0 to M2s, M3s and even the ibasso DX200. The only remarkable difference should be the advanced driving power of the bigger models. Wooden ears or the nekkid truth? I have to test this our for myself. Will order the M0 as soon as i made the color decission. Red... black... or titan color... puuuh :shaved_ice::shaved_ice::shaved_ice: Must... test... everything... can't resist :ksc75smile:

For price of DX200 you can buy 8 M0 and few cases to go with it. So I think that sorts out your colour choosing problem quite easily :)

Awesome job Shanling folks :) Dang, this is such a great DAP. One of my all-time favorite audio purchases!!

I have a question about on-device playback of DSD. When I go to play DSD64 - no problems. When I go to play DSD128 - no problems. When I go to play DSD256, it complains that it can't play that file format. But then it continues to play it back perfectly regardless. Have I just got lucky with a "defective" M0 or something? :wink: Anybody else out there able to playback DSD256 on their M0?

The DX200 is a bit over-rated, IMHO. It's a heavy brick with an excessive sub-bass roll-off. I sold mine after about 1 week. Much happier with my M0 :)

My unit on 1.52 firmware shows "playback failed" and skips to next song.

@Shanling

Unfortunately not all your DAP's are available in Canada like the M3S. I am very interested in the M0 and would like to confirm if possible it will be available for sale in Canada. If so when might it be available?

Our Canadian distributor should be getting their shipment later this month.

Received mine yesterday. Loving the little thing! Just one little suggestion for future firmware would be to add a play all to the artist section so if you have multiple cds it will play through them all. If it has it already how do we do it? Lol

I got my titanium. I owned a M1 and I think too M0 sounds a bit better, at least better transparency. For me, the best is not a great sound for this size but a battery above average.

Although I can handle perfectly (standard hands) I don't get the point of the nano size, for me M1 size would have been better, and I miss buttons to skip tracks, specially when using outdoors.

All in all, I asume this is the new start of Shanling and later we will see upgraded models without whell and new UI.

In now playing you can select open all. It has all the tracks there in numerical-alphabetical order, and then you can just shuffle it all up.
