Ok thanks
I have a look it and try again.
Yeah the SD card is not expensive. But I don’t need a fast one to listen music... and I copied the music so it should be ok I guess.
Hi Dili -
I had problems in the past with "special" characters, and reported a list of troublesome titles and artist names to Shanling a while ago. Typically, Slavic, French and German composers with special letters in their name would turn up in my list with one or more Chinese characters in their names. After the next update the problem was a lot less, but not completely gone. But it has never been causing library update crashes. My M0 has rejected an SDcard once, but that time it was simply telling me NO SD CARD. It has always worked with all other cards, cheap and expensive alike.
In my case, the crashes during library update started around the time I put more than 16.000 titles on my M0, and since then the crashing has never stopped. It is highly predictable though, and non-fatal. The pattern is as follows:
1st try: the M0 freezes after the counter has passed 16.000 (the counter is always between 16000 and 17000) and has to be shut down.
2nd try: the M0 finishes the update very quickly, but now the list only has very little titles (usually less than 200) most of which are the new titles that I have added.
3rd try: the M0 completes the update and does not crash. The list still shows a little over 16.000 titles, but after a restart and an OPEN ALL it shows the correct number of titles. I can play all new and old titles without errors.
I have 2 M0's and they both do it. It makes no difference if I change the SDcard. It also makes no difference if I add 1 title or many titles. Even when I have removed titles only, the library update behaves as described above. There seems to be no solution, but it is possible to update your library if you have 2 hours time at hand (which is how long it takes for me to perform these 3 updates now I have 23.000 titles in memory).
Since the last update it is possible to turn the screen OFF during update library, which was impossible before. With the screen OFF it is possible to do 3 updates on a full battery without recharging.
My advise would be: do 3 updates in a row, then a restart. Pres OPEN ALL in the menu MY MUSIC and check if the library update was successful.
With my MO's it always is. If not, there might be another problem. My best guess would be:
- One or more corrupt files (broken audio or broken tags) cause the problem
- One or more files on the SD card are non-audio and cause a problem (picture files such as JPG, GIF and the like typically cause no problems, but maybe executables or other strange file types do)
- The SD card has a problem but that would be my last guess since this typically results in bigger problems than update fails
Succes!
