Shanling H7 - High-End Portable DAC/AMP/Player, Featuring new AKM AK4499EX Flagship DAC

Hi,

Would it be ok to leave the H7 connected to the power to use it as a desktop DAC/AMP (like the Fiio Q7 or the Chord Mojo 2 intelligent desktop mode) or would it damage the battery rapidly ?

Thank you.
This will certainly shorten life of the battery. There are some ways around it. At the beginning of the thread someone wrote about smart charger, maybe this is a way. It is best for the battery as it does not discharge below 60% and does not charge above 85%.

I know some smartphones OS allows to limit the charge at 85% to preserve the battery longevity, but it don't know any 5v charger with this kind of tech built in.

For example AK CA1000T has a battery protection mode feature that helps extend battery life. The battery is charged to 85% and then stops charging. If the battery level drops below 80%, the battery will start charging again and charge to 85%. So maybe smart charger will enable such a setting.

Decided to part with my H7, not getting enough use as I’ve a preference for DAPs.

EU only if anyone interested!

It's a pity that the number of H7 users will decrease.
R6PRO2 seems to be good for you!

Guys, what does the switch mode setting mean?
Turn off\on switch mode, changes the DAC setting to UAC 1.0 (on) mode and UAC 2.0 (off) connection via type-c cable.

UAC 2.0, is bettter, since high USB speed is supported, natural bandwidth and low latency is advantageous.

UAC 1.0 is only supported by a 192 kHz dual channel audio source.
UAC 2.0 can support an audience of 15-channel 384 kHz.

I just received the Shanling UP5, wow! How does the H7 compare to this little masterpiece? Does it maintain the same sound signature? I own several DAP’s, and portable DAC/amps and this is my first Shanling, so do tell.
UP5 has power and is good at headphones You can also improve the sound quality with a USB connection. Of course the H7 is even better!

Not something we would recommend. H7 has no charging adjustments for this setting, it would just keep always recharging the batteries.

H7 is bit warmer and smoother, more in-line with our house sound. Otherwise it blows UP5 in sound quality, not really comparable.

@ shanling after the latest update. I am bit unhappy on the power switch on/ off. I need to hold more time to switch off than the previous firmware installed.

Also the battery gets heated up more while playing from the SD card

can a battery charge limit be implemented in a future firmware update? thanks.
What's the point of that? H7 doesn't work that long anyway. In addition, the guys from Shanling kindly provided instructions for disassembling the H7. You can change the batteries at least once a year. In addition, there is an idea to put batteries that can give off high currents. I plan to supply 2 Murata VTC6 - 3000mAh batteries, they can give out a lot of power over 15 amps. this should have a positive effect on the device as a whole. We just need to find out which batteries are inside. with or without protection. If with protection, then you need to take for example Nitecore NL1835HP.

The device will still take what current it needs. But it's good when the battery has a reserve. In any case, we need to look at what is installed inside...

Yes, the switch on/off was adjusted for the firmware after user feedback.

Battery gets heated up? Why do you think it's battery heating up and not the device overall?

Not sure.
