testing h7 in shop today, comparing with my 1am2, h7 is WAY more clarity in music while still soundimg warm and full.

I can't belive it beat the hell out of sony, and i was testing on bluetooth setup.
It's fine on BT. But on USB cable it's amazing. The H7 dominates everything in its price range and also many other more expensive.

Yeah make be whole device.

But the switch onn and off is quite frustatiin due to very long press hold
I'm sure this is specially made from accidental clicks and turns on/off when the H7 is in the bag, for example. Personally, I have no trouble with this. Before turning off the H7, you need to activate the display, then it will turn off fast enough. Shanling did everything right )

h7 sound way more amazing (than 1am2) on bt and usb, no more using sony small & unresponsive screen. Fantasic volume knob on h7 adjusting voulme.

I see no reason to use my sony in the near future, should i still keep my 1am2 dap?

If it was me.....I would keep for a couple of weeks

I had similar thoughts the first few days with the H7 and N8ii, however the N8ii is overall a superior device all round.
That said the H7 gets very close to it, especially in its presentation of treble, but overall the N8ii is more refined and more musical

The H7 though for the price punches way above its price point and if I didn't already own the N8ii then it would suffice on its own

It might have great sound, but if you want to connect via Bluetooth to your phone or any TV to watch music videos or movies, forget about it as it has severe audio lag (lip sync). Inexcusable for an 859.00 DAC/amp. I own many DAC/amps without this issue. I bought the Shanling UP5 just to test it, it has no lag at all. Very disappointing on @shanlings part for such an expensive device. For sale.

I wouldn't say that's strictly true

I connect the H7 to my Samsung phone and tablet via Bluetooth to watch Netflix, BT Sports etc etc and have not had any lag issues, not once.

Im using it with an iPhone. The only DAC/amp in my arsenal that does it. Makes no sense.

Our review of the H7 is now published. You do need to update to the latest firmware to maximize SyncLink local playback, but otherwise, this is a very compelling alternative in the portable amp/dac market.

Which is a better choice, and why, hope to get some clarification and to learn something from the expert here. Thank you.

Option 1: H7 connect to s22 Samsung handphone for streaming music, turn on UHQ audio option (where music are resample to 192khz)

Option 2: sony wm1am with High Res streaming turn on (music resample to 96kh), usb out to H7.

Option 1 to me definitely produce better clarity on music. but why.

Firmware update V1.5 for H7:

If you are Android user, please make sure to update your Eddict Player app to version V2.1.5

https://en.shanling.com/article-H7V15.html
Installed new firmware. Happy to report:
- all my files are now read (before it just stopped reading somewhere then freeze, leaving H7 file database of what was last read) EDIT: spoke too early here. It tanked when I added more files. See here for the solution.
- haven't observed cutoff at beginning of track

Thanks, Shangling! Keep 'em coming. Cheering for this player. Good stuff!
