So, no more info about release date and price? 🤔 I saw a banner somewhere saying that this should be released this autumn, but now winter is coming... 😂
We should have more info next week.

Our new H7 High-End Portable DAC/AMP will be released at international markets in early December!

H7 will be our first audio design built around the new generation of AKM’s flagship DAC system. It combines AK4191 Delta-Sigma modulator with AK4499EX DAC, splitting the Digital-to-Analog process between these two chips. This new approach implemented by AKM allows for even better sound quality, pushing ahead of the older AKM AK4499 DAC, which was used in our M8 and M9.

DAC is paired with our improved I/V conversion stage, which is based around ADA4896-2 and was originally released with M9 flagship player. Low-pass filtering is then managed by TI-OPA2211.

After this stage, the circuit splits into two. The headphone amplifier circuit was inspired by our EM5 Streamer, adapting TI-TPA6120A2 for H7, utilizing its strong current output. And the rear RCA outputs instead opt for MUSES8920 J-Fet amplifiers, assuring H7 will act as a top-quality DAC for use with a wide range of amplifiers.

More information about H7 and its pricing coming this week.

@ Shanling. You think H7 had a better sound quality then M 8??
I think I remember @Shanling saying it has a sound signature between the M6 Ultra and M8, but I could be wrong.

The tuning is bit different, kind of new sound for us, hard to say which model would be closest.
Overall sound quality, (when running from the MicroSD card), is definitely on par with out flagship players.

That sounds promising. When running files from the MicroSD card, it will support gapless play from the Eddict Player app?

Yes, it works gapless when playing from the card, both as standalone or with Eddict control.

I'm **really** looking forward to reading impressions of how this device performs playing files direct off SD card. I have no experience with the iOS/Android player app, but am finding myself really intrigued by the idea of basically using my phone as a remote control (no wire to connect to DAC/amp!!) to play music that isn't "degraded" by bluetooth.

In essence

- Pair H7 with your phone in the Eddict Player app
- Browse through the files in the app with basic tags or folder structure, control playback ont he main playing screen, control volume.
- You also keep playback control directly on the H7 (turn left wheel to jump back/next, press volume wheel play/pause)

I'm personally running it through folder structure. I find what I want to listen to and then control it on the H7, until I want to change to different folder/album, that's when I pick my phone again.

I was hoping that I can somehow choose the an album or folder directly on tiny screen on H7. Still, the ability to pack music in the device and on-board playback control are great ideas.

There is no Shanling distributor in South Australia to audition, so I will wait for first impressions from other reviewers. I think a powerful DAC/AMP with Shanling's warm tuning sounds like a good companion for the cold G5 unit that I have.

The screen used is two lines tall, so browsing through albums would be bit old-school. It still works even without the app, just going through folders one by one. Can be useful if your music collection is split between many 2GB cards.

Capisco is our distributor for Australia, but not sure how their approach is to locations and demos.

Not cheap but it comes with lots of features. Do you have any technical specs to share?
