Will there be an option for USB data AND power through a single cable? Would mainly be using this as a desktop unit and don't want to a) be constantly charging the battery or b) plug/unplug the charging cable. Part of the reason I got rid of my iFi Signature.

The amplifier design is balanced, so 4.4mm output will provide more power and also slightly better measurements than the single-ended (and in our opinion,. also better sounding).

H7 will not work with just USB power, it depends on the battery to function. So you will always have to be either constantly charging or putting in on/off charger.
You need to use two cables if you want to use ti as USB DAC and charge at the same time.

Not at this time.

There is no such desktop mode on H7 at this time. You can leave it connected to charger and use it, but it will continuously keep recharging the battery.

There is a built-in card slot and you can play files from it through Eddict player app on your phone (controlling it over Bluetooth) or directly on the unit (just with simple controls)

The last I heard, it is due to launch at the end of this month. I think Shanling should have waited a while before creating the thread. Big gap between updates.

I agree. Another few weeks isn’t too bad. I’m not really sure what to expect for price. I assume it’ll be competing with the fiio q7, so hopefully $750 or less. the new akm flagship chip implementation could drive the price up I guess

It's going to be hard for them to come in too much more than the Q7. Hopefully!
