Thanks for the more detailed manual.

I'm surprised at how much I'm using the ET3s streaming functionality, it works really well.

I'm also using it with an Apple TV 4K as an Airplay receiver. It works great with most apps... apart from Youtube which I believe requires Airplay 2 on the Apple TV.

Can I ask if the ET3 uses Sharepoint-sync for its airplay feature? If so is it using the Airplay 1 protocal? It would be great if in a future update sharepoint-sync's recent ability to work with Airplay 2 could be added.

Should be yes. Just set it to the correct mode in accordance with the ET3 and D90 manual.

I have looked at the I2S pinout on my Gustard R26 and the pinout on the ET3 and there appears to be a mismatch. I have not wanted to try I2S now I would like to try it with this player. Can someone tell me how to solve the connection mismatch? Is there a cable recommendation?

Mismatch in what exactly? Devices with I2S normally have different modes for output (You can adjust DSD and MLCK on side of ET3) and input (Our EH3 can pick from a few standards, I know Topping also has such settings for example).

Volume control doesn’t seem to work with Airplay (the slider goes up and down but doesn’t effect the volume), is this by design or would there possibly be a way of adding it to a future update?

There is no volume control supported on ET3 at this time. Its focus is on top-quality digital output, with any volume changes done ideally by pre-amp or eventually by the DAC.

Hi I looked at both the manuals. It looks like the I2S default setting on the Shanling ET3 is the same as the I2S reversed setting on the Topping D90 (first edition of the D90).

How can I change the i2s setting on the Shanling so they match. Could not find how to change the i2s in the advanced manual

Update on this, we got R26 in office and could test it today.

Issue is a mismatch on the DSD detection pin. ET3 will work fine with R26 on PCM files. But if you try to play DSD files on ET3 (or use upsampling to DSD), R26 doesn't seem to be able to recognize it as DSD stream. It will still play, byt R26 will be reporting it as PCM playback.

Issue with Topping is a mismatch on pins 15,16 and the grounding pin. Our engineers are unable to say if it would work or not. Their only recommendation would be to get a custom-made cable to fix this mismatch.

Thanks for checking. For now I think wil wait for some one to try the connection with topping. I do not like to buy stuff and send it back because it won't work.

It sounds like you are saying that DSD or upsampled to DSD works but does not display correctly on the R26. Is that correct?

The R26 will play these files, but it will show on display as PCM 88 or higher.

According to our engineers, you need to get a custom cable to get it fully working.
