Yes, I’m really a strange person. Instead of enjoying music I spend my time on timing:)

You are imagining this, too. Probably the level you are using is not good, either!

Cheers! ;)
Please someone fix my imaginary iPhone camera!

Don't worry, you just slipped a little into the fourth dimension. If you concentrate, you'll easily get out, if you want to.
But there's a possibility that you'll slip into the fifth dimension, and then it will be a little more challenging to get out.
Shanling is waiting there! 😱

Cheers!

I've had a play around with various types of footing and levelling whilst using my ET3 and I'm still getting the dreaded glitch. The last CD was 15 tracks at 73min 25sec time total and this glitched 38sec into track 14 at 62min 42sec...

Moving forward, I'd be more than happy to send my ET3 direct to Shanling so that they could have a faulty unit to test... However, my guess is that they already have faulty units in house, but for whatever reasons, after 5 firmware updates and counting, they're still no closer to sorting this issue out... Personally, I'm waiting to see what the next firmware brings and if the fault remains, I'll have to look at an exchange or refund...

I’m quite sure it’s not a firmware related issue.

Interesting note from ChatGPT here about performing a Reset after installing new FW to "clear any residual issues", I wouldn't have thought of doing that so it might be worth a check if the step hasn't been taken already.

My Query after asking about reports of a Glitch:
"Do you see any posts that state the FW update can fix this issue?"

Yes, Shanling has released firmware updates aimed at resolving CD playback glitches on the ET3, particularly issues occurring with longer CDs exceeding 60 minutes.

Firmware Version 1.3, released in August 2023, specifically addressed “dropouts when playing CD” . Users reported improvements post-update. For instance, one user noted, “The dropout problem seems to have disappeared, I loaded about ten CDs without noticing it anymore” .

Subsequent updates, including Version 1.5, further “optimized CD playback” . While these updates have mitigated many issues, some users have reported minor quirks, such as the remote control requiring a reset after updating.

To ensure optimal performance, it’s recommended to:
  1. Update Firmware: Ensure your ET3 is running the latest firmware.
  2. Perform a Factory Reset: After updating, consider performing a factory reset to clear any residual issues.
  3. Test with Various CDs: Play multiple CDs, especially those over 60 minutes, to confirm the issue is resolved.
If problems persist after these steps, contacting Shanling support or consulting user forums for further assistance would be advisable.

Perhaps it isn't, you'd certainly think that after several firmware updates, they'd have sorted it by now... looks like a deeper rooted, perhaps mechanical fault...

If it’s Firmware, I’m guessing it would be happening to all the machines
Makes me wonder why firmware updates are being suggested as a fix then... all very strange

The only reason I’ve personally not taken this any further is that with it being a known issue, you can see that Shanling appear to be trying to address the fault. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, without the glitch this would be by journey end transport. But my vast collection of CDs has hundreds of 60min + discs and my enjoyment is tempered knowing it’s going to glitch…

I sure hope you get it resolved or a new one. Myself I very happy with mine. I don't know how many folks are having this problem. It does seem like the laser head is having problems tracking to play whole disc. I don't think it's anything that you are doing. Your unit could of been damaged in shipping. Dropping and kicking by the shipper. It did come on a long journey here.

I would suppose the worst. Poor QC.
