Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

But why can't @Shanling make the ET3 Roon ready?
Is it a matter of $$$ ?

Before they were bought by Harmon, manufacturers had to submit their devices to Roon for evaluation and approval. It wasn't necessarily about money. This was/is not a quick process.

Post Harmon, I don't know what changed if anything.

Maybe Shanling can tell us where they are in the process.

While we are waiting for Shanling's return, I was looking at the manual for the newly introduced SACD player, which has user configurable settings for 10 different I2S pin configurations. I wonder if the same could be done to the ET-3 I2s output via a firmware update, but don't know enough about the chip inside the device to determine if that is even possible. Anybody?

Unlikely. Otherwise they already implemented it.

I have question to @Shanling . When I play DSD thought coaxial cable it converts DSD to PCM. The sound quality of this conversion is good.
But why does it swap right and left channels?
Is it possible to fix it by firmware?

Alrighty, my C.E.C. came back, and I just installed it. There was no "issue" other than the belt taking a form, given how little I use it. (It's a relatively new belt). I'm running it now to see if it glitches. The Shanling is on too, and I can easily switch between them via remote on the line stage. I also started building an I2S cable- what painstaking work, and ordered one today from Ali-baba.

Can you say that the C.E.C. have a superior sound quality to the ET-3 ?

To make a meaningful comparison, I think I need to run in the Shanling a little more, and right now, I'm focused on making sure the CEC doesn't glitch- the US distributor ran it for 48 hours without a problem.
Then, what, two of the same CD/same mastering, etc. running simultaneously? I don't know if there are gain differences among DAC outputs, I guess I could use AES/EBU and pull cable from one to the other player using the same DAC with the line stage muted. Any suggestions? I do shoot-outs frequently on LP, and adjust for gain differences using meters to ensure I'm not misled by the "hotter" cut.

No, straight Redbook transport. Period.
