Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

I'm running the latest V1.7 firmware but still get the single random glitch around the 60min mark on every CD...
Last evening I listened with the timer before my eyes. The glitch was at 67’05’’ from start. Maybe other CDs could vary, I will check it later.

Squeezebox is it's own thing and hasn't been made in over a decade. Here's a link.

The RooExtend is the easiest, least complicated, and likely cheapest way to make the ET3 a reliable Roon endpoint. If I recall, RooUPnP uses the squeezebox compatibility of Roon to do what you are describing.

Yeah,
Big Squeezebox guy back in the day here, a great system way ahead of its time.
Wrote code for some VU meters for the SB Touch which was fun.
Still miss my Transporter, Sean Adams of Slimdevices knew what he was doing.

Sounds like RooUPnP works similarly to the ifi Bridge app detailed HERE?

Need to look more into RooUPnP.

Thanks.

Known software bug,
So fixable.

That’s good news, Shanling seem very supportive of this product and that’s always great to see.
My Christmas list wish is to be able to tweak the display settings: size, information, no image background.

Thanks Shanlng for continued support here, we love this player!

Got my ET3 yesterday and am enjoying rediscovering my CD collection again. Just one thing, when I try to log in to Tidal through the Eddict app's "cloud service" option, it says "Resource not found". Is this only available on some Shanling devices?

How did You get Tidal in cloud service? I have only Spotify there.
Not sure! I have the option of Spotify or Tidal. I must say, some of the options are quite obscure sounding, eg "Wireless projection" and "Wi-Fi transfer".

We are aware of this software glitch and it was reported multiple times to our software team. We are awaiting updates from them.
Many thanks... appreciate the feedback and fingers crossed your techies can sort this out once and for all... :)

Just use the Mconnect app, you can play Tidal on the ET3 on that app.
Good suggestion. I'll probably still use my Bluesound Node for streaming, but nice to have the option on the Shanling, too.

Random musing on the ET3... any opinions welcome.

Its a CD transport,
yet has a glass lid. (albeit smoked black glass)

What about light getting into the player, any ill effects?
I'm sure Shanling designers factored all this in, but still curious!
I put a towel over the player when playing, and probably just my mind playing tricks, it was slightly different sounding with it on than off.

Any thoughts?

The manufacturer doesn’t recommend this. Nothing should obstruct ventilation (although ET3 doesn’t seem to be very warm during operation).

Was just a one time experiement to see (hear) what might happen.

Theres no ventilation holes on the ET3, and as you say doesnt get hot during playback.
Only ever felt some slight heat from it when playing from a USB thumb drive and then it was hardly anything.

More thinking about complete blocking off of light from the mechanism.
Again, just being curious!

Yes, no holes seen on the device, but that was written in manual. Maybe it’s just standard phrase)
Transparent lid is better to see if CD does spin or not, sometimes it might be useful. Then, typical ambient light unlikely can do any harm. Maybe direct sunlight could, but it also not recommended for any electronics.
