Shanling EH3 - Desktop DAC/AMP with Wi-Fi, USB Drive Playback and Flagship ESS ES9039PRO DAC
I have just realized that neither usb, coax or toslink inputs are routed to usb audio output to be converted by an external dac, is that normal or my unit could be defective?. Through headphones there is signal, but nothing in the external dac. I'll appreciate any comments.

I am not sure this is unusual.
Of course I will not ask why on earth you would like to use an external DAC when the DAC inside the EH-3 is probably the besqt thing money can buy that exists today, but that is your way... So I will not comment or ask.
But I think to do what you want to achjieve you'll need to have a "bypass".
The ports on the back of your device are either :
- inputs
- outputs
To have both input and output you need a "bypass" or "passthrough".
Unless the device is designed to have the inputs being used as outputs also (so with a bypass) you will not be able to achieve what you're looking for...
Of course this is my "understanding" of things... I may be wrong.
Regards.
