If they would have sent with correct cable, they could have saved a lot money. Poor planning and management at massdrop.

Nah, it was Sennheiser that screwed it up, and I bet the cables probably cost them about $5 to make, so I doubt they are out that much.

Poor massdrop.

If we take $10 per shipping(best case) then for 5000 people they will spend $50K more.

I could probably live with the short one, I just drag the amp a bit closer on the desk. But good on them for this, great service from both companies.

But, the HD6XX cable is inferior than HD650 stock cable.

I doubt that it was $2 in material but labor was a bit more. They are out 5000 cables that were not the right length that is not a small sum.

Or they are keeping 5000 customers that likely will buy future products! You can't value customer retention enough. 50k isn't much for a company like Sennheiser.

The explanation was very interesting. Sennheiser sells a bundled package of HD650 with Apogee Groove portable amp, which comes with a 4 ft cord. This was the cord they packaged with the HD6XX. They wrote the listing for Massdrop without measuring the cord and it wasn't correct!

BTW, the person who admitted the error and accepted the blame is a chief engineer at Sennheiser. I doubt he will be reprimanded.

I have both

and compared side by side !

What are external differences besides length and 1/4" vs 1/8" plug? Any difference in outer material or thickness?

You can hear the difference in the cables? Impressions? What gear are you running? Done any double blind to verify? I'm curious.

Lol, double blind. Ok will do that after full burn in of HD6XX. Right now it's only 30/40 hours burn in ...

But, as is aid, HD6XX cable is thinner than HD650 cable.

I'm not being cynical, really curious. I heard the difference once on an HD800 setup. It wasn't double blind but the difference was discernible and I had no idea what was what so it might as well been double blind. I'd like to repeat the experience but that was quite a setup from the power source up. Necessary, I don't know, I didn't get to hear the improvement of each component added. If the HD6XX cables are noticeably thinner, that's a little concerning.

Edit: meant to say HD6XX cable is thinner, not HD650. Fixed above.
