But seriously, do you really think that k601 is a better headphone than k701? k501 is of course a very close match and maybe even better, but k601?

The K501 is still one of my favourites. Yes I prefer the 601 over the 701. The 601 may not sound as detailed (imo pretty close) but I find the K601 to not exhibit the annoying lifelessness of the K701 but imo the 601 is very balanced sounding like the 501.

My ranking would be:

K501
K340
K702 65th Anniversary Ed
K240 600ohm
K601
K702
K701/Q701

K702 above k701? Aren't they sonically the same headphone?

More enjoyable even than the Unipolar. Mostly due to comfort reasons.

OK. Comfort is an important criterion but I would never see it as important as SQ. So I am very curious to know how an earbud for for £30 can have resolution, musicality and technicability anywhere near the k701 (or the Unipolars for that matter). Having heard many earbuds in that price range (and much more expensive) I see a serious lack of credibility in your statements.

Like I say, comfort along with a good sound help make the K 314 the most enjoyable pair I have, and the one I use most often.

The K 314 I found better in sound than the Yuin PK3 which are thought of as good value in the <$30 price range. Not as good as the Blox M2C, but those are more expensive. Not to mention I got seven of my many pairs of K 314 for $6 each when they were being sold out.

Ok. So you find a pair of 30 dollars ear penetrators more comfortable than a pair of light over-ear headphones. You also think the comfort of these headphones in combination with their "better than good value in the <$30 price range" is more enjoyable than the sound produced by a $300 open-back headphones (k701). I have not heard k314 but I have heard Blox MC2 (which you find better in sound than k314) and I have heard the whole Yuin line up (PK1, PK2 and PK3, personally owning PK2 right now). Having all this information at hand (and at ear) my conclusion is that you are joking.

OK. So Q701 have a similar color and detachable cable as k702 so, according to you, they simply have inferior sound quality to k702 and k701?

On a technical scale all 3 are bad and I would've put it down on the bottom of my list, I just happen to give the edge a bit more to the K702 because I like the splash of dark navy blue and white rings on the grill. I only find the 65 anv edition to be slightly more better in sound but still edgy with brightness. Some people call it warm sounding, I call it a K/Q70X with a slightly tamed down treble. Let's hope when I hear the 712's, thing's are improved by lot more not just a bit (the price tag on them is absolutely craptastic I must say).

Surely you're off base here, contesting subjective impressions of sound and comfort. (The K 701 are literally about 50 times heavier than the K 314, by the way.) You can refer to my measurements for the objective qualities if you like those better

Sorry but I couldn't find your measurements of k314.
