Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 2 (MTW2)

I just noticed that Crinacle measured the MTW2's "high-end sound tuning mode" : https://crinacle.com/graphs/iems/graphtool/
It's just an EQ change, but a significant one that seems to solve some of the problems of the original FR curve.

For me, the jury is still out on whether the “high end tuning” is preferable to the stock tuning, but it’s nice to have the option.

As for all IEMs, there is slight noise inside your ear when walking. Highly depending on how hard you hit the floor with your feet. Personally I don't have anything special to report here. It's all normal.
I think Sennheiser sells foam tips especially for their true wireless devices. Other than that most tips work just fine. Especially the ones that aren't going too deep, since those are similar to the stock tips in form factor. "Normal" tips are fine too and also fit in the case. Double and triple tips won't fit in the case I think.
I've purchased and installed the Sennheiser Comply foam tips. They do make a considerable difference. The sound of the armature rattling is gone for the most part. The sound of the Momentum II's compared to the Westone R4 is actually better. Although the deep bass is not there, the midrange which is pretty much what I hear is really very good. With the foam comply tips the sound noticeably improved. More detail and tighter notes. All in all a good purchase.

What is "armature rattling"?

We’re also curious if you could see describe this rattling? As the Momentums use Dynamic drivers, it wouldn’t be from armatures in the traditional sense (Balanced armatures). If there’s a design flaw or defect that could be covered by warranty, it would be worth investigating!

With that said, it sounds like you’re enjoying the IEMs, and at the end of the day that’s the main goal 🙂

Hi dear community.
Could you help me with the following?

I've recently bought Momentum TW 2. And I really enjoy the sound quality.
There's just an annoying issue, when I use them for phone calls, or connect to notebook as "hands free" for calls and meetings - the sound quality becomes really bad, sometimes it is relatively ok, sometimes it looks like sound disappears for a moment asynchronously from one and another earphone, it sounds like it falls appart or something like this.
I updated them, I did factory reset - nothing helps.

Could it be manufacturing defect? Or this is just a peculiarity of Momentum TW2?

I had the same problem. Overall sound quality gets quite bad when using them for calls (input and output). Normally it works better with phones than on a PC, but it's both quite bad with the MTW2. I didn't expect it to be that bad as well.

Got my MTW2's today and I must say wow, not bad for the size and comfort, coming from the WF-1000XM3's. I will sell the Sony's and keep the MTW2's, paired with the Spinfit cp360.

Thanks for your question!
When listening to music, the MTW2 connects to your phone or PC with the best bluetooth codec available, for example aptX. However, these high fidelity codecs are "one way," and don't support a microphone return channel. So when you switch to a phone call, the MTW2 enables standard "handset" profiles instead (HSP and HFP), which function in a "two way" fashion so that you can both hear and be heard simultaneously. The sound is also monaural instead of binaural stereo.

If you are having connection issues, consider if anything in your environment might be blocking or interfering with bluetooth transmission. If you are still having issues and require further assistance, check with our support team here:

Sennheiser: is it too much to ask for a good music player like the sony music center app? That app can find any music files stored on my phone with no problem, would love to have an intergrated player or stand alone for the MTW2.

Hi, Thanks for the answer.

Update: The issue with sound happens mainly after long period of music listening. When I just pick up headphones from the case and use them as a headset they sound relatively good, but if I listen to music for an hour and then switch to headset mode - then sound issues occurs. Looks like something overheating or so.
I'm planning to observe more. If this going to persisit, I'll probably address to service center, as you advised.

One more question, just curious what it this hole on the front of the right headphone?

After about 4 months use of these I thought they were THE ONE but they are just so comfortable, especially now with wearing a hat they are jammed in my ears and the sound quality is really crap when pushed into the ear. The sound quality / signature is amazing and noice cancelling is great. But now I am now looking at something like
Master & Dynamic MW07 PLUS, if anyone has any other recommendation then please let me know :)

The sony wf-1000xm3 and the MW07 Plus hang outside your ear, isn't that less comfortable than the Momentum True Wireless 2?? I can't stand the comfort of my Wf-1000xm3; they always slide out after 20 mins of use. Not the case with the MTW2.

@greenkomodo1 @davidmthekidd
Yes, the MW07 (and any of their variants) are way bigger on the outside of your ears, compared to the MTW2. But their fit is still better and extremely stable. From my personal experience the MW07 fit better than the MTW2. That's also what other people on other reviews said quite a lot.

Personally I think the sound of the MW07 (even their original ones) is way ahead of the MTW2.
