I just received my Momentum Bluetooth a few days ago and like some others had connection problems with my MacBook Pro. The following link helped me out and even though it's directed to Yosemite users, the fixes are just basic OS X resets that would apply to other OS X versions. BTW, all other BT connections for iOS and other BT devices are stable and solid.

What have you done, SMC and PRAM reset?
My only problem until now is when connected to my Macbook Pro Retina with Yosemite. The connection stutters so much that I just can't use it via bluetooth.

Hello.I have a fiio x5 and e12,and listen to 24 bit files mostly. I can't decide whether to buy momentum wireless or beoplay h8 for travel. My only criterion is sound quality (I love the sound of my momentum 1). Advice?

I'm at a loss for how to respond to your comment.

Think I share your thought exactly.

I ran for 20 minutes this morning with iPhone 6 plus strapped onto my arm and Momentum 2 wireless using Bluetooth with only one occasion of a click.  Everything sounded like an improved version of my original Momentum.  Better bass, clearer highs and improved imaging.

Naturally, when you are running outside, the imaging does improve versus using it at home.  It's more psychological IMHO.

The active noise cancelling, I am still not totally used to.  How I can hear on coming traffic or fellow runners conversations is strange to me.  I rather have total silence or ambient noise, this is somewhere in between.

  That is only partly true. There are also other chipsets with aptX support, for example from Broadcom. In this case only the codec is licensed from CSR.

IOs devices doesn't support aptX because the power consumption is higher than AAC. And Apple knows what is the best for their customers...
rolleyes.gif

Do you know if the AAC codec steps in automatically when you connect an AAC Headphone (like the Plantronics Backbeat Pro) whatever music you listen to? Also if you listen to MP3 files?
I mean, will the iPhone convert an MP3 in AAC on the fly to send it to the Headphones with the AAC codec?
Or does it only work when you listen to AAC files?

Now comes the trouble, I did pair with my Macbook Pro Retina first and I had an horrible experience trying to listen to any sound at all. It skips/stutter so much it becomes impossible to enjoy any audio. I never had this problem with the Plantronics. I also managed to figure that if I turn wifi antena off the audio gets a little better but still skips/stutters.

If there is a way to make an hard reset of the Headphones, try that.
Before, turn the bluetooth on phone and other devices off, and delete the Momentum from their memory.
Then reset the Momentum.
It may fix the problems.

Unlike in ears or some noise cancellers like Bose or Parrot, the Sennheiser Momemtum W2 allow voices and sudden loud noise through, at a controlled lowered level.  I guess it's safe to be walking around city streets with this or to snoop on fellow passengers but I would love to have total silence.  Is there a mode for that with these cans?
There is no mention of a silence mode in the quick manual.

Interesting, it made me have an idea: ANC should be made so that people can not only turn it on and off, but also set it to different intensities.
In the Backbeat Pro you can set the intensity of the Open Mic feature, so I think it should not be much more difficult to make people also set the ANC level.
Because, you are right, in some situation one wants total silence, in other situations want total passthrough, in other ones a middle way.

I have also read that the problem with Aptx is that it uses the whole (or lot of it) bandwidth.
SO that if you also use a BT mouse or other BT device, you have stuttering.

Sorry, if this sounded rude. To elaborate: If you so far only had limited time with the cans outside, it might be that you simply didn't get into a situation yet where the Momentum Wireless couldn't deal with the interferences.
There have been too many reports of owners with said problems that it's difficult to believe that it is due to broken sets or something when using the same devices. You have an iPhone/iPad with the latest iOS FW I take?
Maybe just for the heck of it I should tell Sennheiser to send me a replacement.

That is the first thing you should do if you have problems.
Get at least one replacement.

  Update: So, I just arrived at my hometown and first thing I did was to pair the headphones with my windows desktop. It's working perfectly... That being said, Macbook Pro stuttering / skiping is most probably due to the Wireless and Bluetooth problem.
Resuming, until now I did test it inside walls (home) with:

1 - Macbook Pro Retina (Yosemite 10.10.3 Beta Preview), a lot of stuttering/skipping problems;
2 - iPhone 6, not a single problem;
3 - iPad Air, not a single problem;
4 - Windows 8.1 Desktop, not a single problem;
5 - Minix NEO X8-H Plus, not a single problem.

Tomorrow I'll try them outside.

This was the fix for me with my Mac's bluetooth audio:

Worth a try...

iPhone 6 & APT-X

Hi Guys,

I'm late to this forum and have had a brief scan through, it's seems by my reading so far that iPhones don't support APT-X.

With this in mind has anyone managed to do a sound quality comparison between an iPhone and another product with the APT-X codec, if so what are the differences?

If this has already been discussed I apologise for bringing it up again and a link to that tread would be great.

Thanks.

Yes and also make sure that the Momentum's Mic isn't selected in the Sound Control Panel input tab.
