Hi,Head-Fi'ers,
 
I am a newcomer and this is my first post. I am a happy owner of the IE80's for about one and a half year.During this time, i have listened them through Cowon J3 and Colorfly C3. IMHO,IE80 is very capable when it is paired with an audiophile grade music player such as -at least- Colorfly C3, I had  times thinking that i should sell them,until the time i bought a C3, It turned a completely different animal,pairing with C3. In addition to this, i bought an upgrade cable(it's a combo of silver and copper) and the sound became much better.It's hard to believe but the sound came from IE80 through that cable and Colorfly, reminds me my another IEM: the Vsonic gr07 MKII.

an appreciation thread is for those who like the product not for bashing the product. its ok to bash the ie80 but i think bashing it in the appreciation thread shows disrespect for those who love the ie80 (correct me if im wrong)
the ie80 in my opinion is still the best out there for its value especially considering it can change sound signature just by a simple tape mod.
i still listen to my ie80 even though i have some 1k custom IEM and westone um3x (that shows how much i like my ie80) but it maybe different with other people

I'd like to add that my experience in terms of customer service has been much better with Sennheiser in comparison .

Hey guys,
 
Can anyone recommend replacement cables for the ie80s? the rubber on mine have begun to break on the right side tip.
 
Would it be better to buy 3rd party replacement cables or just get another sennheiser one by contacting them?
 
I'm happy with the stock sennheiser ie80 cables, the replacement cables look uncomfortable since it looks like the cable is much thicker and doesn't bend around the ear as easily.

If you're happy with the cable then just opt for a replacement from Sennheiser. Maybe you can contact them about the cable (they may just replace the cable for you).

I was thinking it may be better to buy a 3rd party one that's better quality? Since I purchased mine internationally from Amazon I don't think it's covered by warranty. 
 
Do any cable suppliers offer extended warranty to replace them if it does break?

Zeroshoe doesn't sell pure silver cable anymore. But I think he had a 90 day warranty on them and would repair them for you at a minor fee (he did for me). It really depends on what you are after as there are a lot of options out there. I don't know what would be considered the most durable? Maybe the Toxic cables (but are pricey) yet you'll get the best sound at the same time IMO. If not just do some searches on ebay for Sennheiser IE8/IE800 replaceable cables and see what pops up. You can also contact Sennheiser and see if they can sell your the replacement cable.

Oh okay thanks, but are they any good? that seller seems to be selling his for $80, I think the stock sennheiser cable will cost around $50-60

This a Nice pice of a app...  it has its own tuning system to each headphone... freaking unique! and it neutralizes the Sound sig.. too bad that I don't own a itouch or a iphone.. I only have a classic..
