My warranty replacements for my old IE7 got delayed until mid-April, which sucks, but the customer service rep is sending me some free CX310s due to the inconvenience. Sennheiser gets more points from me again.
I would call them and ask if they could send the IE80 instead.
The model closest to the IE-7 is the IE-60 now, not the IE-80. Maybe they would substitute the IE-80 with an (hopefully small) up-charge, but I doubt it because the IE-60 lists for 1/2 the IE-80's price.

That's could be a possibility worth talking to Sennheiser. It may cost them less than repairing the IE7.
Sennheiser does NOT repair IEM's, they just replace them.
Just got the updated TWag eclipse for the IE80 today. Unlike the previous version, it has no heat shrink so it's way more ergonomic and less bulky. I added some pics below.
Remember reading a post saying Sennheiser replaced his IE7 with IE80 because the IE7 has been discontinued from production. Refuse to accept the free CX310.
I have not heard the IE80, but I have compared the W3 and the IE8 quite a bit. I personally prefer the Sennheiser sound for these genres. Though, if isolation is important, the W3 also do very well with them and sound very musical for a BA.
