Good to hear. If you think the IE80s are detailed on the 601 you gotta hear them on the Rocoo BA or Studio V :).

601 wasn't that detailed until I lined-out to the E11. The results are pretty drastic.

I use to use my former 601 via line out and it did make a noticeable difference. But still not comparable to the striking difference I got from the Studio V. The synergy is amazing and the imaging is uncanny. The Studio V just spits detail in your face and the IE80 eats it up and displays it in a very fun and engaging way. Yet it doesn't become overwhelming at reasonable volumes. I think that is also the plus, you get excellent detail and acceptable volumes.

Thx, I may get the DX100 end of the year. The current rig should be adequate for now. A longer battery life would be nice for the 601.

Do the sennheiser IE80 have a more exciting sound compared the the HD600/650 etc?

I am thinking of swapping my HD650 for some IE80 because I find the HD650 boring and lacking in sub bass...

I have both and let me give a little insight to you.

IE80 does sound more exciting, because it sounds fullers compared to the hd650.
HD650 is probably boring because the middle-left and middle-right channels are sort of missing, or should i say
the audio on hd650 is clearly distinct between middle, left and right, leaving only instrumental details on place between middle and left/right.

I have never heard the hd650 to lack sub-bass, instead i tone the 100hz down when i had it with the default cable, i have since replaced it with twspc,
which brings out the mids more and tames the bass.

If you do change to a ie80, i will tell you the first thing you will miss is the clarity on the hd650, the ie80 in comparison does sound a little muddy.

The hd650 is clearly better than ie80 in almost all aspects but is more analytical thus less exciting.
If details/definition doesn't bothers u too much, changing to the ie80 is worth it.

But bring me to the point of what u do with your hd650, it's a home setup to me, u probably didn't drive them properly enough to make them exciting/warm enough.

100hz is not sub-bass.

I like the HD650 but only for certain genres... Really they are not "all rounders" like people say they are..... Sometimes I put them on and think "wow these are actually awesome" and sometimes I put them on and think "could these be any more boring sounding"... It depends on what genre is playing... I am looking for a pair with a more exciting sound and better all rounder with more sub bass.... IEM's semms like you get more SQ for the money.. I dont really want anything MORE muffled than the HD650 though!

The DX100 will not have a longer battery life than the 601. It will charge slightly faster though (2.5 hours to fully charge). The Studio V has 55 hours of battery life with FLAC files and up to 85 hours with lossy files.

Upgrade your cables on the IE80 to silver cables and I think that opinion will change. At which point you may even find a stock HD650 muddy in comparison due to the mid bass hump.

IE80's are going pretty cheap these days, so who's going to get the upcoming IE800's? (Oops might've said too much)

Yeah, I just want a true 24bit player next. The 601 + E11 combo has more than fulfilled my current needs.

Which silver cables are you referring to? I'm interested as well.

You can get them from ebay seller "zeroshoe". You can also haggle him down on the price. You may be able to get him down on the price by $10.00. Just submit an offer to him and he'll most likely accept it.

Hi there!
I owned a pair of these for couple of months, and they are truly great. However - I managed to break the socket to one of the earpieces and now it's glitching alot (have to like bend the earphone back and forth to make it work). I have attached some picture how its broken...
Does anyone know if this is something i can get repaired by Sennheiser, do myself or generally how i get em fixed?
