Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

The sweetness midrange and deep bass of IE800 that are something makes me addicted especially with every DAP I own whereas Angie II sounds more smoothness and expending soundstage.

The sweetness of IE800's midrange is a larger part of why I never gave it up :)

Even though I heard things that maybe did other things better to my ears, ie800's general signature is still hitting me in my sweet spot better than a strong drink after a long day of work

The bass is thick and has amazing impact -> checked

The midrange is extremely sweet, amazing separation -> Checked

The treble is enthusiastic, emotional and has amazing sparkle to it -> checked

Hard to give up ie800 regardless of what else I heard so far . Curious about Sennheiser's own IE800S

Thank you for whoever suggested Symbio tips for the IE800. I put on the wide-bore version (normal bore coming soon) and they stayed on well enough, although not as secure as the stock tips. However, much better than other tips. In my opinion, I heard an improvement in the sound. Not sure if it's a re-enforcement of the bottom or a smoothing out of the peaks, but the splash was gone while retaining all of the detail. I was hearing subtle cues in my reference tracks that I haven't heard before with the stock tips. I think the IE800 + HiFiMAN filters + Symbio tips is a real winner. I'll report back with my experience with the normal bore tips when they arrive.

The Symbio W is nice, but sometimes the tips stay in my ear when I am taking off my ie800 . Would it happen on the Symbio N version if you have tried it? As I see that the Symbio N has a smaller core diameter and probably would stay on there more tightly?

Where is a trustworthy place to purchase these lower than MSRP? I don't like the look of any of the amazon sellers and amazon isn't selling directly.

Sennheiser

You can't have them cheaper than the original seller sells them for, unless there is a sale going on for them with an authorized seller

Only buy from authorized sellers

I’ll add to this recent line of thought: I love my IE 800 and also find the cable length to be fine (I’m 5’11”). Sometimes I’ve had issues with the tips coming off when removing the IE 800 from my ears, but if I do it carefully, no problems. There is something about its sound that puts a smile on my face when I haven’t used them in a while, and this is my indicator that these are keepers. My other two IEMs, the JAYS q-JAYS Anniversary Edition and the A&K AKR02 (custom version of the final FI-BA-SS) have this same quality, after not hearing them for awhile, when I listen to them they sound glorious.

With that said, I’m probably interested in the IE 800S sometime down the road, but my recent purchase of the Focal Utopia has drained my audio pocketbook for an extended time.

Is it just me, or are the ie800 equal to or superior than the campfire andromedas?

I auditioned the Andros but I wasn’t impressed.

You have to consider the treble, even to date, ie800 still has one of the sparkliest and most engaging overall signatuers without being peaky :)

You just have to love IE800 :)

"Superior" doesn't mean anything.
You just didn't like the Andromedas signature, that doesn't make them any worse.

I couldn't get a fit at all with IE800 (because of the crapty proprietary tips), that doesn't make them bad either, they're just not for me.

I agree! I wish they just used a standard nozzle!

I had the ie800 and the andromedas for a couple months together, and loved both. To me the ie800 was a little more lively, probably due partially to the treble sparkle.

also the ie800 has this incredible tone for classical music, and a very airy and spacious soundstage. The andro had a bit more powerful vocals- it was a bit of a more thick and muscly sound, while the ie800 is a bit more energetic, maybe a bit faster, and a bit more sparkle. I sold the ie800 because they were quite similar, and I liked the extra engagement and liveliness of the sound. Andro's and the 64 u18 have the most "even" frequency response ive ever heard though. not too analytical, not too bassy, no peaky mids or treble, good stage and imaging, just a solid all rounder. for $350 used, you cant beat the ie800 though in my opinion.
