Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

Ugggh!  I had to return my ie800s.   The driver on the right was dying.   This is the second time for this problem.  4 times in total. If if need it, i hope they will extend my warranty in the future.  Generally, 2 weeks back and forth, which means 2 months of my warranty was eaten up by shipping.

Has anyone gotten sennheiser to extend their warranty because of having to return products multiple times?

Thanks.

I've just had to send back my IE800 recently as well, due to the right driver dying. I also had issues with stiffness of the left earpiece cable, but didn't want to wait for the RMA/repair shipment just to fix a stiff cable. However, after the right driver stopped working, I pretty much had to send it back to Sennheiser.

I shipped back my IE800s last week Monday, and they contacted me today to double-check my purchase invoice. So, they're still being processed at the repair department.
Hopefully they'll ship a replacement back soon, since it took a week (7 days) just for them to receive the shipment, :/

I'm on my fourth pair since the 1st of July, 2014 due to the cable hardening. +1, A receipt is an absolute necessity if you have Sennheiser warranty issues, unless you have deep pockets.

it almost disgust me that we actually have people owning this product. NO ONE should buy this until Sennheiser announce a public apology and fix this issue.

this is like a lemon issue, you bring a brand new car in 4-5 times for the same issue, the company will buy it back from you. I bet if all Sennheiser IE800 owners come together you guys could start a class action lawsuit.

As I've said previously, Sennheiser has excellent customer service and have always replaced them with no hesitation but they are definitely aware of the problem. The second time I sent them back, I was advised to address the return to the attention of the product specialist and he personally supervised the replacement. That didn't make any difference, about a month later, the left cable started to harden and the stress relief earpiece grommet split so they had to be replaced. My current pair I've had since about November and so far no hardening, BUT I don't use them nearly as much as I once did. I find it difficult to enjoy a ticking time bomb. It's possible that my current pair, serial # 23xxx, have the mythical improved cables but also possible, Sennheiser doesn't know how to fix the problem. I would be curious if anyone has a more recent serial # and still experienced the hardening.

Is the IE800 an exemplary sounding IEM? Yes! Knowing what I know now, would I have bought them initially? Absolutely not!

well... i can only say that i would try to not buy them knowing this problem... but i also already listened to them, and the sound was so amazing...

I think the people with the IE800 problems are in a minority.  All of these negative experiences may not apply to you or others.

This is all a conspiracy.  The IEM has been out 18 months or so.  200 pages of posts....no cable issues.  Then, all of the sudden in the past 3 weeks everyone that has ever owned or listened to the IE800....the cables just harden and split in your hands.  Crazy ****.
