Actually I just checked with Sennheiser Worldwide and in no way does the site indicate the IE7s have been discontinued. So iono where you got your info
I had this from Sennheiser customer services when I was sending mine back in hope of repair for a faulty driver:
'[size=x-small]Please be aware though that the IE7s have been discontinued and we would supply you with an equivalent product, as this item is not repairable.[/size][size=x-small]'[/size]
This kind of sucks. I just purchased some IE8's and paid almost full asking price for them. I'm going to be dissapointed if a better sounding IE9 comes out shortly for around the same price...
